Logitech acquires headset maker ASTRO Gaming for $85 million

Logitech today announced that it has agreed to acquire ASTRO Gaming, popular for its headsets for professional gamers and enthusiasts for US$85 million in cash. It will be joining Logitech G, its gaming division. The company acquired Jaybird back in April last year for $50 million.

ASTRO is known for its iconic A40 and A50 headsets designed for pro gamers and core enthusiasts. It recently introduced A10, which is a its cheapest console headset that is premium, yet affordable.

The deal is expected to close in early August. In FY 2018, Logitech expects growth in console gaming market after the acquisition, It plans to invest and expand ASTRO internationally later.

Regarding the new acquisition, Ujesh Desai, vice president and general manager of Logitech G, said:

ASTRO is the leading player for premium console headsets and is the preferred headset for console esports athletes.It’s a perfect complement to Logitech G’s focus on PC gaming and we couldn’t be more excited; we love the team, the brand and the products. Together, we want to make game play even more fun for gamers everywhere.
