Micromax Informatics the makers of the Micromax brand of Mobile phones have issued a warning to users about a shady International Mobile Promotion Award. We all know that Micromax is popular in India but looks like an SMS Scam is originating from London , UK

Looks like several mobile users have received SMS Messages that they had won 1.5 Million British Pounds from MICROMAX Company Inc of London as part of the International Mobile Promotion Award and were asked to mail their details to an email address.

Here is the info posted on the company’s website which urges users to ignore such messages.

It has come our to our notice that some unscrupulous persons are sending bulk SMS messages to mobile phone users deceptively and falsely informing the recipients that they have won huge sums of money from Micromax Company, London and for their claims they should email their particulars to micromax@w.cn or visit their websitewww.micromaxawardcenter.page4.me.

The public is hereby informed that our Company has not announced any such award.  We have not hosted the said website or created the email address.

We have no connection whatsoever either with the website or the email address.

Kindly ignore any such SMS messages and also please do not part with any personal details to any unknown persons or through email.

Micromax Informatics Limited, as a matter of policy, does not seek any personal particulars or details from the public.

Any person acting upon such SMS messages or corresponding with such email addresses or following the instructions given in the aforesaid website would do so at his risk and peril for which Micromax Informatics Limited would not be responsible in any manner.

We have reported the matter to the police for investigation.

This is not the first time we are seeing something like this. You must have heard that Microsoft is giving away free laptops , Nokia is giving away free phones etc.  Did you get any such SMS ? Let us know !
