Snapchat Spectacles Unboxing

Snapchat unveiled Spectacles with built-in camera back in September last year in limited numbers. In February this year it started selling the Spectacles through its online store. We manged to get one, check out the unboxing. We also did a video on our Tamil channel, check it out as well.

Spectacles has a camera with 115-degree lens on the left side that lets you record 10-second Snap that get stored on the glass for the day.

Video can be recorded by tapping a button that is present next to the hinge. When recording begins, a ring on the right side of the glasses flashes, to signal it is recording. The LED ring also acts as a battery indicator when you double tap the button. The Spectacles can be synced to your mobile device and videos can be further shared.

The case has a built-in battery so the 137mAh battery on the Spectacles gets charged when you place it inside the case through the charging contacts. Battery on the Spectacles lasts for up to a day on a single charge, which varies depending on the use and the case can charge the Spectacles up to 4 times.

The camera circuitry is present on the left side and the battery along with  circuit-based power-management system is combined into one piece on the right side.

The case has a charging port and also has an indicator that shows remaining battery capacity.

In addition to Black, Snapchat Spectacles also comes in Coral and Teal colors. It is currently available only in the U.S. for US$ 129.99 (Rs. 8455 approx.).
