on July 25, 2010 – 6:49 am84 Comments

We already told  you that the Wildfire is coming soon to India . The handset was expected to hit India in August .

Now the Wildfire is available in India from various dealers across the country for as low as Rs.15000

Here are the features of the Wildfire

* Android 2.1 OS
* Quand Band GSM , Dual Band 3G
* 3.2-inch capacitive touch
* 5 megapixel camera with auto focus and LED flash
* 3.5mm audio jack
* micro SD
* HTC Sense UI
* Friend Stream Social Networking Application
* Wi-Fi, Bluetooth , GPSGPS
* 528MHZ Qualcomm Processor
* Optical Trackpad
* 384MB RAM
* 512MB ROM
* FM Radio
* 1300 mAh battery
* Talktime : 7 hours
* Standby : 480 hours

In other news still no official word about the Desire. We had a chance to play with the Wildfire and it’s certainly a very affordable Android phone running on Eclair 2.1. It’s a bit slow for some tasks but that’s not going to be a deal breaker . Anyone using a wildfire out there ?

    the resolution is too low for a 3.2 inch screen…..has one of the worst displays in mobile devices….

  • suyog

    Varun, can you comment on resolution thing? this looks like updated Tattoo which was huge fail. Also they dont seem to get pricing right.
    In India they have to get it right and compete directly with Nokia.
    Layman will always prefer Nokia 5800,X6 over this.

  • Gilly

    QVGA resolution with 3.2″ screen WTF!?!?!?
    we are in 2010, qvga isn’t good for sense UI so it’s a ok!!! phone

  • Karthik

    Cant compete with samsung, nokia which have equal to better phones in the same price range.

  • happy

    what is the actual price of this phone???

  • vivek

    Wildfire has good features to buy with some disadvanges

    1. NO TV Out.
    2. NO Videocalling.
    3. Resolution is low for big screen.

    Can some reply if MS Office files are compatible with this phone. like MS Excel, MS Office.

  • vivek

    HTC is best for SMART Phones.I am user of I-mate jamin sice log time & the OEM is HTC. They have very good features. NOkia & Samsung are NO WHERE against HTC.

  • Rohit

    suggest me best phone in range of Rs.15000 with following specs:

    Smart Phone with Touch, 3G, Wifi, Video Calling, E-mail, Good Camera, Good Memory

  • rrg

    screen is good.i just bought one……………android is awesome……………tons of apps r available………..xcellent entry level android phone

  • rupesh

    which operating system is best android or windows microsoft

  • karthik

    android is better now,the present windows 6.5 is not upto the mark.

  • karthik

    Well sony ericssons always have the best camera,video, but in other features like battery back up, over all life,nokia rules. Even this HTC wildfire is good bet if resoluton is not an issue. Depends on what features are more important to you.

  • karthik

    Also sonys and samsungs are slightly delicate compared to nokias. But have better cams.

  • abhi

    i have my heart set on this one. where can i buy one in delhi??

    plzzzzz and what’s the cost?

  • TJ

    Android is far ahead in terms of high end smartphone segment.Its currently the best OS,considering its open os the there are no limits

  • Ananth

    Bought HTC wildfire….am amazed by the truck loads of features they have stuffed into a Rs 15000 phone…awesome value for money…but not too sure if the battery back up is the best among HTC phones…If they can fix that, no phone can stand this price point.

  • Imran

    hey ppl out der can u temme whether v can open pdf files ms office n excel in wildfire and can it be connected to laptop and use for internet as we do in nokia phones but the same thing s not possible for samsung phones so ppl plz temme can v connect to laptop and use net has any1 really tried out?/
    thanks in advance:)

  • Well Wisher

    ya dude you can open pdf files and office coz it does have a quick office application and also you can connect it to laptop and can use internet as well…for your kind info its a smart phone so no need to worry abt all those basic things as far as this phone is concerned.k

  • imran

    thanks frnd n i know its a smart phone but the main reason of askin it bcause the same thing s not possible for samsung n i m new to htc so just want to get clarified abt it n frnd one more doubt i m really confused which one i should buy nokia E72 or HTC WILDFIRE plz help me:)temme wy i should choose n which one plz sorry for da trouble n thanks in advance:)

  • shawn

    imran i will tell u the plus and the negatives
    lets talk just about nokia e72…

    Highs: Extremely attractive design, BMW build quality, Rock-solid voice quality and reception, Fast-loading browser, Above-average camera, Responsive navigation

    Lows: Antiquated S60 interface, Optical trackpad not useful, Awkward camera bulge, Clumsy browser, Hard-to-use microSD slot

    there you go this all there is to know about nokia e72

    lets talk about htc wildfire, shall we…

    the humdrum reality is that ‘it is just an Android 2.1 replacement for the entry-level Tattoo — same 528MHz Qualcomm MSM7225 processor, 3.2-inch 320 x 240 capacitive LCD touchscreen instead of 2.8-inch resistive,
    384MB RAM instead of 256MB,
    and a 5-megapixel camera instead of 3.2 (although quality matters more, obviously).
    this is an affordable handset for the buck to satisfy Europeans and Asians.
    and since it has android os, u have more than 50,000 appls u could choose from, download and install completely free unlike nokia phones as such…

    one other thing please keep in mind what would be the main use of ur phone b4 purchasing one…
    if u are lloking at cost and performance its htc wildfire, if its performance, again its htc wildfire. i have purchased it and brother i must tell u this its an AWESOME PHONE. way way better as compared to any nokia phone put together

  • imran

    thanks a lot bro for ur suggestions der r some more queries which i want to know 4m u like in E72 v have push mail n flash which is good for browsing…
    so i wud like to know wud it make any difference comparing wit wildfire n ya the most important thing here is have u tried connecting ur phone to laptop n used the internet facility bcoz m new to htc n same thing is not possible for samsung phones so i really wanna know if u have tried using it in ur laptop????

  • Ashish

    Is Nokia 5800 xpress music is loud and also tell me about htc wildfire music quality and loudness which mobile is better

  • Ashish

    Nokia claims of battery life to be up to 11 hrs talktime and 400 hrs stand by time while HTC claims the phone to last just as much as 240 mins long calling and as low as 120 hrs stand by period.Anyone can check the same by him/herself :

    http://www.htc.com/in/product/wildfire/specification.html
    http://www.nokia.co.in/find-products/products/nokia-c6/specifications

    This thing gotta be one of the biggest deciding factor after all what is one supposed to do with a phone that though boasts of brilliant features but doesn’t have battery (most of the time) to run them…!

    Secondly, Wildfire doesn’t have a Secondary Camera and that is a big issue for video calling.The entire concept of video chat on 3G services that will soon be launched all over India, would be like not much fun.

    Next the higher screen resolution of C6 is another marginally important aspectt,even if no big issue it still affects total visual experience.

    Another very imp aspect is separate Querty keyboard with C6 that makes typing mails and msgs very easy for the user .

    But then I am not here to endorse either one of the two.
    So to be frank, although I feel that C6 is a better value of money esp owing to its much larger battery and Sec. Camera and Slider keyboard but then there are things like htc’s trademark HTC sense that have their unique appeal. So it’s a tough call actually, plus Google Android has a more attracting stamina. But in the end, it’s the use that should be deciding factor since if one keeps running out of battery so quickly, one’s mood and day are more likely to be spoiled.

  • http://GSMArena Shinymic

    Hi Pals…..Dis is Shiny here, dese dayz i was cnfusd which mobile ve to buy, since i ve no ideas regrdin it, i do asked few of my frndz sugstn too, n i tot of Nokia x6 r HTC Wildfire, tnx a lot dfor ur idea, lemme go for THE SMART MOBILE HTC Wildfire…….

  • psp

    I think Samsung Wave would be a better buy if you are ready to sacrifice Android.

    It has 1Ghz processor, double the screen resolution than wildfire, HD video recording

  • Varun

    pls tell to which phone i should go for ,i am confused in between the two segments which actually rethinks me to suits my style about. should the lead to go with htc wildfire or be htc legend ..which one gives more good response if i consider the prices of their respective ranges.

  • sathvik

    wch is da bst phne..among c6,htc wildfire,x6

  • Nadeem

    If you are looking for UI experience then go for Wildfire. It has a very kool UI experience courtesy HTC Sense UI.

    OS – Android is way advanced and cutting edge then Symbian.

    Usability – If you dont like using touch screen to type then your can consider Nokia’s various Qwerty key handset and e72 is certainly becomes a big contender there. Its a smart phone with pretty good decent screen, good processor, decent camera.
    But then please dont be jealous when u r sitting in a train and the person in front of you is sporting a cool HTC phone with all those pretty cool UI effects and features.

    I feel touch screen phones are more natural to use and hence more user friendly.

    In the end go for the one which your heart beats for.

  • Hunter008

    Do wildfire have a front camera for video calling purpose. which is the main essence of 3G ? ?

  • Nadeem

    @Hunter008
    No Wildfire has no secondary camera dear.
    I agree with you, there should have been one.

  • kamal

    hiiiiii pals,,, well m vrymch confused 4 buying a smart phone for last 15 days,,,,actually i unable to decide which fon is good or bad 4 me respect to galaxy 3 or wildfire or so well u sayan anroid based fon,,, plz help me,,,,thnkxxx reply me soon,,,

  • Abhishek

    Look, first of all, both the phones are good. Both have a 3.2 inch capacitive touchscreen display with pinch to zoom feature. Both run on android 2.2, but htc, with its sense UI gives a better experience than galaxy3. Both have a moderate screen resolution of 240X400 pixels, and they both feature WI-FI and 3g functionality. So their is not much difference between the two handsets. Considering camera, the wildfire beats samsung galaxy 3 as it has a 5mp and he latter, a 3.2mp. Also video recording is better in the wildfire. Plus htc wildfire runs on a 524 MHz processor, which is quite fast. So, I would suggest you to go with the wildfire.

  • ananth

    Abhishek, the HTC runs on Android 2.1. And HTC is the best known vendor for effortless touch sense. HTC is the way to go.

  • Ashish

    @ Kamal
    Hey dude, if u r actually plannin to buy a smartphone and have got a few options in ur head, I suggest that u add a few more to the list (though I dnt really mean to confuse u further …! ) as Nokia has jus launched four New Smartphones, one better than the other (as regards to value for money as well as bare minimum requirements dat v guys seek). These are C6-01, C7, E7-00 and already hugely popular N8.
    Now it depends on hw much u r actlly plannin 2 spend. Consider your range and then compare wid d phone(s) dat u were most likely to go with as of now.
    As far as HTC Wildfire and Samsung Galaxy r concerned, there’s not much of a difference b/w d two except for the fact that HTC Touch Sense technology is its USP since it’s among the best in the world. Apart from that Camera of Wildfire possesses higher resolution, however, one of my friends who has jus bought one, confirms that the pics taken by Wildfire are also nt dat good too notwithstanding higher pixcel camera. But it still should be better than Galaxy.
    Secondly, HTC is a much more reliable vendor than Samsung, however, that is jus ma personal opinion… Rest is all pretty much the same.
    But if you can wait for about a month or so and r also willing to spend as much as 20k, I’ll strongly recommend u consider Nokia C7-00. It is “todu” phone by all means and that too at a very decent price aftr all.
    U get 8 MP camera, 8 GB internal memory, highly responsive Capacitive Amoled Touch Screen, 3.5″ inch screen width, full HD support, ability to play TV podcasts,an incredible battery back-up of almost 576 mins and over 23 days stand-by time…! Yet, the best thing about this phone is its looks..! You’d jus love it, I’m sure. Have a look at it.

    Go to Nokia India’s website to view more details abt it.

    http://www.nokia.co.in/find-products/products/nokia-c7-00/specifications

    If u wish to take dis experience a level still up, then there is E7-00 which will, however, cost u abt 30000 bucks. But then it has introduced few amazing new concepts such as USB support to the cell and doing away wid d conventional Memory Card. But in any case it gives u 16 GB internal memory. Further it boasts a larger screen of 4 inches.Pretty much the rest is same but den it’s a bit over ma range so havn’t given it a thorough look, so there may be some unexplored features.
    But in case u wanna get ur hands on a gadget that’s worth a little less, say 15 k (close to the cost of Wildfire)then C6-01 is the phone to look upto. It has all features of C7 except the ones we can still do widout or u can say, it’s a bit lower version of C7. However, the differences include a lill smaller scr wid 3.2″ size, no HD support and no exuberant internal memory. The rest is pretty much the same here too. Please note that C6-00 (or simply C6) and C6-01 are two very different versions of Nokia C6 and you must consider as same.C6-01 is a upgrade version of C6 as C7 is that of C6-01, so you can choose yourself about exactly where to stop..!

    But one thing dat may deter a few buyers is d Symbain OS powering dese awesome phones and no Android for ‘em. But still if u c even till 2day d largest no. of people r using Symbain powered phones and more imptantly dey are powered by d latest version of Symbain OS, datz Symbian 3. So it shudn’t such a big issue aftr all as d same must b somwhat closer 2 Android even if nt as good as it.
    Guys, pls do share wat u ppl feel as I too am waitin to buy one bt like d rest of us havn’t yet decided which one to go for…!

  • Divyanshu

    Hi Can You tell me where the wildfire would be available in delhi, prefrebaly in north delhi

  • Nadeem

    Wildfire costs 14,800 INR from flipkart in India.

  • Nadeem

    @Snehal – Wildfire costs 14,800 INR from flipkart in India.
    @Dev – You are right mate, Aria will score slightly better because of its better resolution and better video capturing rate.
    I bought a wildfire a month back, and I too was looking for Aria, but due to its unavailability I settled for wilfire.
    Wildfire too is a very impressive phone and I am really happy with it as of now .. though some times QVGA screen becomes a bit tricky to work with.
    @Divyanshu – Hey mate you can get wildfire at flipkart.com .. they will deliver it to you in 3-4 days and you also get the option of paying cash-on-delivery if you want, apart from net banking and CC payment options.
    My experience of buying wildfire from flipkart.com was good and smooth.
