Samsung Galaxy S Initial Impressions

I have been playing with the Samsung Galaxy S for more than a week now and wanted to share my initial impressions of the device while we work on a review.

The first thing that stuck me when I saw the phone was the huge SuperAMOLED 4 inch display. I expected it to be heavy but its pretty light compared to its size mainly because of the plastic body. It does not look cheap due to the plastic thanks to chrome bezel on the front side.

If you are planning to watch movies on a mobile phone, it should be the Galaxy S. It played even full HD DivX videos without any complaints.Camera is pretty good during daylight for both photos and videos but it disappoints at night due to lack of a Flash.

The device is fast and the screen is very responsive. The phone runs on Android 2.1 and majority of the UI tweaks by Samsung are welcome. Some changes to menus and settings are misleading though.  Battery life is one area we are not convinced. Also we could not get it working over 3G.

But its a pretty attractive phone overall. Find out our verdict in our full review soon.
