Weekly Roundup: Lenovo PHAB 2 Plus, Moto M, BlackBerry Android Phones, Astrum Drones and more

This week Leonvo launched its Xiaomi Mi Max competitor, a big screen smartphone PHAB 2 Plus in India. The device was first unveiled at the Lenovo Tech World 2016 in San Francisco back in June.

The Lenovo PHAB 2 Plus packs a 6.4-inch 1080p 2.5D Curved Glass display, comes with dual 13-megapixel rear cameras with Futjitsu Milbeaut ISPs, Laser AF, PDAF, dual-tone LED flash and an 8-megapixel camera on the front with LED flash.

The Lenovo PHAB 2 Plus comes in Gunmetal Grey and Champagne Gold colors and is priced at Rs. 14,999. It will be available exclusively from Amazon.in starting from today. This directly competes with the Xiaomi Mi Max phablet that also costs the same.

Lenovo announced Moto M, the latest smartphone in the new ‘M series’ in China. It has a 5.5-inch 1080p Super AMOLED 2.5D curved glass display, is powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek Helio P15 SoC and runs on Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow). It has a 16-megapixel rear camera with  phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF), resulting in a quick focus and an 8-megapixel camera on the front.

The Moto M comes in Gold and Silver colors and is priced at 1999 yuan (US$ 294 / Rs. 19,630 approx.) in China.

BlackBerry launched DTEK50 and DTEK60, its latest Android smartphones in India. The DTEK50 that was announced back in July and the DTEK60 was introduced last month. Both these have a 8-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash and run Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). The DTEK60 also has a fingerprint sensor. The BlackBerry DTEK50 and DTEK60 come in Black color and are priced at Rs. 21,990 and Rs. 46,990, respectively. The BlackBerry DTEK50 will be available from Sunday, November 13th, while the DTEK60 will be available from December.

Astrum Holdings launched mini quad copter drones DR130 and DR080 this week. These drones has the ability to fly up to 80m with a RTF and 3D tumbling flying support. 

With a flying time of up to 8 minutes, both these drone takes around 30 minutes to recharge unlike other drones in the market. Moreover, both these drones comes with 6 axis gyroscope with throw flying mode.

The DR130 features an HD camera that has the ability to take videos at 720p quality. It also includes ‘TF card’ slot supports up to 32 GB of storage and spare blades for beginners in the package. It has a flying range of 100 meters, that is controlled by a 2.4 GHz controller with a crash-resistant design.

The DR130 and DR080 comes in Black color with a price tag of Rs. 8,490 and Rs. 4,590 respectively. Both these drone is now available with Astrum India and its Regional Distributors with a warranty of 1 year.

Asus launched Zenfone 3 Max (ZC520TL and ZC553KL) in India. The Zenfone 3 Max (ZC520TL) comes with a 5.2-inch HD display with 75% screen-to-body ratio and has 3GB of RAM, while the Zenfone 3 Max (ZC553KL) comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p display with 73% screen-to-body ratio, is powered by a Snapdragon 430 SoC and has 4GB of RAM.

Asus Zenfone 3 Max

The Asus Zenfone 3 Max comes in Titanium Gray, Glacier Silver and Sand Gold colors and is priced at Rs. 12,999 for the base (ZC520TL) variant and goes on sale from major online and offline retailers across India such as Flipkart starting today. LG introduced its Bluetooth headset dubbed as LG Force with Qualcomm aptX audio codec support and is IPx5 rated water and sweat resistant.

This Bluetooth headset comes with a silicone earpiece wraparound that can be adjusted to six levels to suit your ear size. It comes with Bluetooth 4.1 and also supports Advanced Audio Distribution (A2DP), Audio/Video Remote Control (AVRCP), Hands-Free (HFP), Headset (HSP) profiles.

The LG Force headset is priced at 139,000 won (Rs. 8,025 approx.) in Korea and costs $99.99 (Rs. 6,650 approx.) in the US.

Hyve Mobility launched Pryme, the company’s latest flagship smartphone. It packs a 5.7-inch 1080p 2.5D arc class curved display, is powered by a Deca-Core MediaTek Helio X20 processor and runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). The Hyve Pryme comes in gold color and is priced at Rs. 17,999. It will be available exclusively from Amazon. Registration for the sale begins November 20.

Panasonic launched P71, the company’s latest 4G smartphone with Voice over LTE (VoLTE) support in the ‘P series’. It has a 5-inch HD IPS display, is powered by 1.25 GHz quad-core processor, runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

The Panasonic P71 comes in Ivory Gold and Dim Gray Black colors and is priced at Rs. 7,490 for the 1GB RAM version and the version with 2GB of RAM costs Rs. 8190.

Xiaomi introduced Mi Portable Mouse (XMSB01MW), its latest compact Bluetooth mouse in China. It has aluminium shell, ABS plastic top that comfortable experience and weighs just 77.5 grams, including battery. It also includes a dongle and comes with dual-mode connection so that you can connect it to two laptops or PCs, one over Bluetooth and other over dongle and simply press a button on the mouse to switch between two.

The Xiaomi Mi Portable Mouse comes in grey and gold colors, is priced at 89 yuan (US$ 13 / Rs. 870 approx.) and will go on sale in China starting from November 11th.

Zopo Mobiles has launched Color F2, the company’s latest 4G smartphone in the Color series. It has a 5.5-inch HD 2.5D curved glass display, is powered by a MediaTek MT6737 SoC and runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), has a 8-megapixel camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera that also has an LED flash.

The Zopo Color F2 comes in Gold, White, Black and Pink colors and is priced at Rs. 10,790.

Sony launched Cyber-Shot RX100 V (model DSC-RX100M5), its new flagship compact camera in the Cyber-shot RX100 series with 1.0-type CMOS sensor and fast Hybrid AF with speed of 0.05-second, employing 315 phase-detection AF points.

It has high speed Anti-Distortion Shutter (maximum speed of 1/32000 second) that minimises the “rolling shutter” effect commonly experienced with fast moving subjects. The Sony Cyber-Shot RX100 V compact camera is priced at Rs. 79,990.

Reliance Retail launched F8, the company’s latest smartphone with Voice over LTE (VoLTE) support in the ‘F series’. It has similar design and specifications as the Flame 8 that was launched back in August, exclusively on Flipkart, but this runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) compared to Android 5.1 (Lollipop).

The Lyf F8 comes in Blue and Black colors and is priced at Rs. 4,199, same as the LYF Flame 8.

HTC announced Bolt, the company’s latest smartphone in the U.S. for Sprint. It packs a 5.5-inch Quad HD screen, is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 810 processor and runs on Android 7.0 (Nougat). It has a water-resistant unibody aluminum design, 16MP rear camera camera with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), 0.3s Phase Detection Auto Focus and 4k video recording.

The HTC Bolt comes in Gunmetal and Glacier Silver colors and is available from Sprint at $25 per month with 24-month contract in the U.S.
