Nokia announced today that it has filed an infringement complaint against Apple, alleging that Apple’s uberfamous iPhone is infringing on 10 of their patents for GSM, UMTS and wireless LAN (WLAN) standards.

According to a press release from Nokia, these patents have been licensed by some 40 other companies which includes virtually all the leading mobile device vendors, allowing the industry to benefit from Nokia’s innovation whereas Apple has always refused to agree to the appropriate terms of the license and has not paid for the right to use it ever thereby attempting to get a free ride on the back of Nokia’s innovation.

We will be covering this new twist with a great detail as it progresses and will be back with more details as soon as we get it.
