Technology is developing at an ever-increasing rate. Mobile phones are becoming an all-in-one device combining fatures of  digital cameras, media players, Internet browsers etc. We have seen 12MP camera-phone with optical zoom which some have commented on as a camera with phone function.

But now Texas Instruments have come up with 2 new processors  that will allow mind blowing amount of up-to 20 Megapixels on 3G camera phones! Texas Instruments say that the new coprocessors provide up to 20 Megapixel ( still imaging capabilities ) and 720p high-definition video recording ability. The new coprocessors are the latest additions to the OMAP-DM5x family.

The OMAP-DM515 and OMAP-DM525 coprocessors accelerate imaging and video performance. The OMAP-DM515 offers 12MP camera imaging capabilities whilst the OMAP-DM525 offers 20MP camera imaging capabilities. Both offer DVD quality to 720p.

The processors are under development and should be released in 2010. So hopefully we can see devices embedded with such chips next year.
