Samsung has launched the Pixon12 in India – the phone with the most megapixels in the Camera. At 12MP this phone has competition only from Sony’s upcoming Idou/Satio. But the phone runs Samsung’s Proprietary OS with TouchWiz , so you might be stuck to using this handset for nothing more than Multimedia.

The Camera has some great features like Touch autofocus tracking which lets you focus a moving object. There is face, smile and blink detection which you might find only in hi-end digicams.

Interesting features include

  • 12Mp Camera-4000×3000 pixels, wide 28mm lens, autofocus, xenon flash, Power LED flash, Geo-tagging, wide dynamic range, Smart Auto mode, Video Recording (D1(720×480)@30fps)
  • AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors, 480 x 800 pixels, 3.1 inches
  • Dimensions- 108 x 53 x 13.8 mm, 120grams
  • 150MB Internal Memory with micro-SD card slot
  • Wi-Fi, GPS, HSDPA, Bluetooth
  • Video- DivX/XviD/H.263/H.264/WMV/MP4
  • Audio-MP3/eAAC+/WMA/AMR

Price in India

The Pixon 12 will cost you a mighty Rs.29,900 here in India.

While the specs look kinda impressive on paper we can’t comment if the phone is worth the price considering there is OmniaHD which is cheaper than the Pixon12 and also there in Nokia N97 at around 30k.
