Video : Nokia E72 Optical Navikey

The E72 is a cool upgrade to the E71 and one of the most important features of the E72 is the Optical Navikey which makes scrolling a lot easier. What’s more cool is that you can use the Navikey to focus the camera. This short video was shot last week when we had a chance to interact with Product Manager of the phone Mika

    The Optical Navkey looks like a FAIL based upon this video. Obviously need to try in person to find out.

    Hopefully there will be settings to tweak the sensitvity.

    May still buy the black E63 over this if it ever ships over to the USA based upon a value decision as the priority.

    Thanks; but based upon the video, one cannot see the advantage. It is appears to be less work to press the button than to move the thumb that much for so little change that also looks to be inaccurate. I looked for other videos with other people and they all make navigation mistakes. This does not bode well.

      @Brutek,

      Optical Trackpads are rather new to the handset market. First it was BB 8520 and now E72.
      Good point that you can see the button. But I need to have this device for more than a day atleast to comment if its a drawback. Will get hold of some soon.

    Optical trackpad on the new BB 8520 is very very good in use (both my daughters have one).

    If the E72 component is broadly the same/similar, then it has the potential to be as good. I’d imagine sensitivity can be adjusted.

    On the 8520, out of the box, its very good as it is. I’m looking forward to a compare and contrast of the E72 and the upcoming BB 9700 (also with an optical trackpad) in October.
