Nokia Messaging Service Trial Ending this September

Seems like Nokia Messaging might become a paid service soon. I just got an email stating that beta trial of the service is coming to an end at this month end that is September and it warns me that the service may not be available on my network.

inform you that the trial period will come to end at the end of

We learnt at Nokia World that Nokia Messaging might go the paid way in India. Talks with operators are going on and they are going head on against RIM’s Blackberry services.
Do you think its good for Nokia to offer services along with phones or should they just stick to making phones !

If it becomes a paid service, I will simply find alternate ways.
the service is good but not as good as Blackberry Services. I think they should improve the service and then make it paid else they will surely loose on the customer base of this service.
I would’nt like to see the service become paid.
They shoud concentrate on making Phone rather than indulging themselves in other activities. Otherwise,

I am using Nokia E71 with Nokia Messaging. Just before 5 to 6 months I’ve purchased this phone to use like blackberry.
I’m using Vodafone network in India. I doubt whether Vodafone is going to offer this service through its network after the trial period.
It will put us in trouble after september end and we may not be having other choice than to purchase a new blackberry device.
Very sad from the part of Nokia. It should have kept the Trial period alive until and unless all the operators are convinced to offer its service.
I think it should remain free,we are already paying the operators for GPRS usage.
I am planning to buy a blackberry as the Nokia messaging is not reliable as of today on the AIRCEL network. My collegues use Blackberry on AIRTEL and the service is really good and predictable. Nokia has miles to go before the catch up with Blackberry and making this a paid service will drive people like me who are on the wall to buy blackberry.
I use an E71 and the mail client is really bad. It does not support HTML mail without using Nokia messaging. So once the Nokia Messaging stops, there will be no other way but to choose another device even for regular mail such as the iPhone or Blackberry.

Till today, 3 Oct., it remains a free service. Mine is BSNL and I have had no problems with Nokia Messaging (voice calls are always a pain. BSNL is available across the length and breadth of the country, but not indoors!) Occasionally I do get a mail from Nokia Messaging that there is a problem with fetching my mails, though there were none each time. There are free alternatives if it becomes a paid service, though the alternatives may not be push-mails.
what makes you think it will be a paid service? It doesn’t do anything to justify a paid service, it runs on your phone, and will most likely be software that’s included on the phone. Software like Sportstracker, etc, ovi contacts were also beta services, and when they were taken off beta, people got the same messages as you have from Nokia. I think it simply means that its taken off beta and that it will now be a regular app, so it might mean a new download. Let’s hope I’m right.
Nokia wants to compete with Blackberry for the Email service . So its going to be a paid service soon !
