You might have already seen that the Samsung Star sold 5 million units in record time. Now Samsung is doing something really smart to sell more Star phones. Its coming out with the Star WiFi which is technically the same as the Star except for the Wi-Fi.  The new phone has been announced in the middle east and is expected to be available in Asia and the Middle East soon.

Mr. Sandeep Saihgal, General Manager, Mobile Phone Division, Samsung Gulf Electronics, said:

‘With the uptake of mobile Internet services growing rapidly, we’re increasingly seeing that it isn’t just business people who are utilising mobile internet. The rise in mobile social networking and cloud computing means that being connected to the internet via your mobile is a must have feature for everyone. After listening to initial feedback from consumers in the region we have decided to release a Wi-Fi enabled version of the Samsung Star.’

The phone will soon be available in India at a price very close to the Star but you might have to shell out a couple of thousands more of wireless power.  The word 3G literally does not exist in the Indian mobile space and many products which have 3G as the heart of the product including the Samsung Star 3G , iPhone 3G and most recently the Nokia Booklet 3G don’t seem interesting to the Indian consumer.
The price of the Star WiFi is most likely to be between the Star and the Star 3G and is expected in black, silver, pink and white colors.
