Nokia 5800 gets Major Price Cut

Nokia 5800 – the first mainstream touchscreen music phone from Nokia got a Major Price Cut today. From our sources in the mobile retailers . The new price before tax would be Rs.13499 which is a killer price for a touchscreen music device. Looks like Nokia might phase out this phone soon and wants to bring the all new X6 to India soon.
We have had tons of coverage about the 5800 on FoneArena right from the leak of the device codenamed Tube. Also a major firmware update for the 5800 is rumored to be coming soon.
UPDATE : Good news for all your early adopters but not so good news for prospective buyers.
According to an user Saurabh who sent us these pics below, the new 5800 with the price cut does not have the TV-out feature . Also the extra stylus,pouch,stand,tv out cable are not part of the standard sales package anymore.

ya the price is 13.5k but i think nokia have removed many things from the box like extra stylus,pouch,stand,tv out cable.
even the tv out feature has been removed.there is a small notice behind the box stating that this device does not support tv out mode anymore

i bought it six months ago at 19.5k,,,
its so sad that now its price is 13k,,,
if you dont belive me just call any nokia priority dealer and confirm it or better go to the shop and check out the box yourself.
nokia has silently removed the tv out feature,you can also visit nokia india website and check the specs there is no mention of tv out and also check whats in the box at end of specification to see what is there in the box.
i never talk pointless things.

When do you plan to update your price list? Its still showing the price of nokia 5800 to be Rs 16500. And what is the status of price cut for other models of Nokia? Should one expect any?
we are working on it . there are many more phones getting a price cut . We are just waiting for all the new prices.

thts sad..the price is going down…i mean for people who intend to buy its good…but for those who bought by paying 21000 on the launch day its a kick on the butt ;-0
even though some of the things have been taken away from the box still its so sad. And moreover my phone went for servicing like 7 times since purchase. so we’ve got very less time together. As i type this, my phone is in some nokia office at delhi while iam 3000kms away in a place hoping to see it on 17th september if nokia care people r right….sad isnt it ???

what happened to the firmware update that was due with kinetic scrolling and new homescreen any news on that.

seems like tv-out feature and cable was removed every where in the world.i have double checked nokia usa and uk website,they also removed this feature.

i think that’s why nokia didn’t launched 5530&5230 into d market ….first they wanted to clear 5800……….. can anyone tell me when 5530 will be avaliable……….

Guys just need your inputs… is the Samsung star 3g a better bet than 5800. I do know star 3g has no Wi-fi and a 8GB card included. but if compared they have a cost diff of about 3k… but samsung star 3g looks better and has a wider screen. I find 5800 has a Very narrow screen and mars a good browsing expirence. awaiting ur thoughts

TV out feature should not be a deal breaker, i think personally.
IF they reduce the price by 2000 to 3000, and just removed the TV out, and extra contents like stylus, or stand, i think its still a great deal because hardly anyone is going to use stylus or stand or such extra things, which are anyways not equal to 2000-3000.
As far as they have not removed major features like GPS or wifi, this price cut should be welcome.
Also, are they still including the 8gb SD card in box?
This price cut is not reflected in Mumbai yet.

i think nokia 5800 is better than star 3g .. it has more features like wi fi ,gps, and d sound and picture quality is better in 5800 and u also get 8 gb s.d card with d box ……and now with d price cut its d best deal ….. browsing is also good in 5800 nothing less than star 3g
if you are in mumbai then there is no way you can buy it at 13.5k due to 12.5%vat there so it will cost you 14.7k instead.so even if there is price cut also it will cost you 14.7k

The TV out mode is just if you want to view your photos or videos on a TV screen. Its not a big deal.
Guys am planning to get this by october…can someone tell me if the new price cut version has any changes in the phone’s orientation?I mean does it still have the horizontal and vertical orientation when rotated?

I don’t think they would remove that feature. But precisely i don’t know. But i am sure, that will still be there as that is a feature for most of the touchscreen phone and they would not remove it to remain in competition.

i went to planet m and they said that aldou u dnt get a cable, but u can use the feature if u buy a cable…is it true? nd r we gettin sennheiser headfones??

Yes we are gettin sennheiser headphones with the phone. I think its only at Univercell outlets and not other shops.
I am just a bit paranoid of how only Univercell stores can include the Senhiuser and no one else ?

I bought the 5800 at Reliance Digital for 13.7K.. Got the Seinnheiser headphones.. they are wayyy better than the Nokia headphones.
Reducing d features z a damn terrible thing.Since it was supposed 2 B a feature rich fone reducing d features a certainly a foolish thing 2 do.But as v see many competative devices in market D price cut wz definite…
the nokia 5800 xpress music is it worth buying coz i wanna use it for atleast 3-4 years and may of ma friends r tellin dat it is not gud it gets spoilt v fast it hang a lot.someone pls tell me wheather buying nokia 5800 xpress music is good or will it become a mess.

just got my hands on this phone(5800).. priced at Rs 15046/- at planet m(mumbai)( there is 12.5% service tax……) ….. well i know i paid a lot more … but i was not sure about this phone ….. so i didnt want to take risk .. so i went for a 2 yr warranty…+++++ the theft insurance which it covered for a yr. the phone is simply awsome… but being the touch screen u never know if any problems arise after few months…. i dont regret that it does not have a tv feature … but sure it a KILLER phone

i think the memory card (8gb) was earlier available (before price cut)
yeah himanshu.. 8gb card was there with it … but lately i also got to know the shortcomings of having a small connectivity cable… its hardly 5 inches…. and so the phone is hanging … as i dont use a lappy… i guess nokia is also hit by recession
