Nokia N97 gets new firmware update – v12.0.024

Good news for all Nokia N97 users. Nokia has just released a software / firmware update for the n97 numbered 12.0.024. The update is expected to boost the performance of the device along with some new features but no change log is out as of now.
The update is downloading on my PC as we speak. So other users in India do post if you are having trouble getting the update. You need to choose Applications –>SW Update in order to get the update . But for some reason I could not update on the phone directly but needed to get it via the Nokia Software Updater

UPDATE : Touchscreen seems a little more responsive and the phone seems a bit snappier. Photo Gallery has had some bug fixes.But the unlock key is not responding . Will report back as more info is available

Hi Varun – The new version doesn’t appear to be available for phones purchased in India. I tried updating the software after reading this information of version 12.0.024 being available for download but the Nokia Software Updater doesn’t show any updates available. You mentioned the last time around that your phone was made in Finland so maybe only the ones made in Europe have updates available as of now.
i have downloaded the update and have installed it and i must say the phone is running much much faster than usual..there is basically a lag…and messaging opens up so quick its ridiculous..i also used the problematic photo browswer (beta) that always used to drag and it moved very quickly and i was playing the music player at the same time..i must say i am very happy with the update so far didn’t notice any new features as of yet though but if anyone knows of any please post

Dis latest firmware update really ROCKS ! Ma fone’s now so fast. In da foto application, d fotos are gettin zoomed with maximum clarity within seconds. Also message is gettin opened within fraction of a second. I didnt go thru d remainin apps cz i jus downloaded 5 mins bak. Thnks nokia. Thnks a million ton.
Only thing m upset is ma fm transmittr is missin with dis update.
While installing with Nokia PC Suite my Windows recognize 5800 xpressmusic

Mine is 0587487 and is still not showing Version 12 as being available. I guess i’ll have to wait. I was tempted to change the product code using NSS, but some say that it its too risky with the n97 or 5800 as they can get bricked….so maybe i need to patiently wait for my phone to have the update available. Thanks for putting up the partial change log…

I am trying to update my N97. I have downloaded the 12.0.024 on my phone but it keeps on giving me an error when trying to install in on my phone.
Software update failed
Please check that you device is switched on and connected to your PC and try locating the device again.
My device is connected and but it still gives me this message.
PC suite recognizes the device as connected but still this message keeps poping up.

just wondering has anyone out there had a problem connecting n97 wwith bluetooth stereo? My car was fine with n95 8gb but wont connect with new phone which sux. Thanks
i bought the nokia n97 and i see it auto restarts with some disco light effects.my firmware is v 11 .hope new firmware could fix this problem .has anyone else noticed this on their sets?

hey thanks nilesh .buddy i went to nokia care they said its a software problem . . . . But after even fixing the software the same problem is still there i had read on many forums that most of n97 are facing ram issues thats why restarting . . . I bought the phone outside india so thats why i cant even get it changed here.
Not out in Thailand either, is there a way of finding out when it will be available. THKS

I had a lot of issues with my i month old N97 (product cdoe – 0587487; Black). I just visited Nokia care center today (3rd Sep 09). They have updated my phones firmware from 11.0.021 to 12.0.024. I have tried to do this myself atleast 5 times. It does not work. It always showed that the current version (11.0.021) is upto date. But to my surprise the Nokia care center guys was able to update the firmware to 12.
@Thandav thanks for the info, that Nokia Care Center would be able to upgrade to v12. when did u get the phone updated to v12. I will go to Nokia care tomorrow to try my luck. I am in Jaipur which city u r in?
I bought my N97 in Thailand, it currently shows an update on the phone but will not load, Ive tried through software updater on my computer but says my phones up to date, the new updates been out for some time , has anyone had any luck loading it on a N97 bought in Thailand? what the best thing to do?
