Are you waiting for the Apple iPhone 3GS to hit indian shores ? Some good news for you. A user named Charan left a comment in our iPhone 3GS India Launch post and he has even mentioned the official price of the iPhone 3GS in India on Airtel . This is what he had to say
The Iphone 3GS would be Launched on 9th August in India, The Price is 32000/- for 16GB Version and 39000/- for 32GB Version. I got the Information from one of my Friends who is working with Airtel.
To confirm the news , we contacted Airtel and Vodafone and all we found was the launch date- August 9th. Both operators were tight lipped about the price .

I just got to know from a friend whose bro is a circle head at Vodafone, it seems they were planning a launch in Aug End but its been postpone indefinitely. This seems to be true since Apple had planned a rollout in several countries including India, but its not launched anywhere.
Personally, theres no point in me buying one after mid-october.. coz then your 7 months away from a new iphone generation!
Its good to know that Apple has tried to mend the mess that created by Iphone 3G last year…buying iphone at over 30k without great feaures was poor idea…thanks to Apple.as it has added some features to its new iphone 3GS..still I would buy nokia phone with much more feautures at less then half the price of iphone 3GS and would buy notebook with remaining money…the price of new iphone should not have been more than 22k…it seems Apple has not studied the taste of India..poor luck Apple..

Jus spoke to Airtel customer care in bangalore. they are saying that 2nd week of sept is the tentative date. the agent advised me to go to the head office in bannerghatta road to book the 3gs.
Today i heard that if you have sources in U.S uyou can get iphone for arnd 14-15 thousand rupees locked is this possible ?

October 7th is a Wednesday. i always that the apple products are launched on a friday. Hope the prices are reasonable. dont think its gonna be below the 30k mark though.

Spoke to one of the managers in Vodafone, they still havent decided to launch Iphone 3gs. The talks are still on with apple . vodafone doesnt want to repeat the mistakes like last time.
@ksundar.. One of my friends in the Regional Manager South for Tata Chroma. He informs that ” Yes, we will be one of the few retailers who will be launching the unlocked version of Iphone 3GS , but its going to take some time”. They are still in talks with Apple as the price is a bit too high. i guess we all have to wait a bit longer.

This post is sort of “off-topic”. So please excuse me as I really need some help and have no other option. I hope someone helps me out. Ok here’s the thing….
I have my friend in the UK right now. He is touring europe and will finally touch london before landing here. I heard O2 ( a network provider in UK ) is selling the Iphone in Pay & Go plans ( prepaid ). All I want to know is if he can get the handset from the apple store without being questioned as to whether he is a tourist.
I read in the apple website under ” What to bring when buying iphone ” (http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/iphone/) , that you need a uk registered debit card or credit card. What if he pays for the handset by cash? Will he be denied the right to buy an Iphone if they find out that he is not a resident of uk?? Please someone help me out if you have any idea. Sorry if this seems to be a stupid question. Thanks in advance.

the phone is available thru carphone warehouse in the UK, but its gonna be very expensive to buy from there. a 16gb iphone 3gs would cost somewhere around 500pounds. also 3gs is currently unavailable for pay as you go due to huge demands. Also there is credit check done before they give the handset.
i would advise you to wait till its launched here.

I think you’re quite sensible
The whole world agrees that the htc hero is the only real competitor to the iphone 3gs.
its as fast. has an awesome interface, and is customisable.
The only thing it lacks is the sheer number of apps available for iphone.
it was sluggish at first, but then they launched a software update that fixed that.
bad news though is that even the hero won’t launch before october.
so yeah they’ll both be launching close to each other.
so if you prefer iphone don’t buy the hero

The interface is just bad. the symbian and the crappy touchscreen feels prehistoric compared to iphone 3gs and htc hero.
I think for people who want a phone immediately, hey should go for htc magic. which is also an android phone.
only thing bad with it is that it doesn’t have a 3.5 headphone jack, only micro usb.
pretty good otherwise.
some may like a blackberry, but thats a business phone, definitely not in the same category. also don’t buy the storm, it sux. storm 2 may be better.

the HERO is AVAILABLE. At Heera Panna, Mumbai its retailing for about 29k with bill for over a week now.

Is anyone counting? Today is September 26th and there is no sign of iphone 3gs in India (through Airtel or Vodafone) from Apple. No one knows. Amazingly, no real information from Google searchers either. Every now and then, some trigger happy members of this forum keys in a rumor or two about the next possible lauch date. Five such predications have come and gone not to mention the major correction about aug 2009 being confused as 9th august. And then nothing happened again!
I am frustrated mainly with Apple, Airtel and Vodafone for not uttering a word about them going back on their earlier talk about August release in India. An apology would have been fine. But, Apple does not care about India market, I suppose. Somewhere I read that their priority is make sure there are enough supplies for the US consumers first and they are actually not able meet the current demand. Good for a company, I guess. Lets buy Apple stock instead
And please, do not I repeat do not guess or spread rumors about when the next launch date for 3GS going to be. I would rather hear it from the official channels.

While you eagerly wait for the official launch of iPhone 3gs in India, don’t expect a low price. As far as reality is concerned, let us look at the official price of iPhone 3gs 16gb around the world. Although the 16gb 3gs is mentioned at 599$ in USA , in reality add 200$ more to it as a tax.Then the US costs 599+200=799$. Thailand costs some 45000rs, New Zealand costs 1150$[don't know whether tax is inclusive or not]. Even the second hand i http://www.ebay.in retails at the average of 50,000rs.Just for your information!

i have visited the airtel store in faridabad & they have published the huge banner of iphone 3gs in which it is written that iphone 3gs is coming soon by airtel,i got confirmed from store manager & he confirmed that iphone will be avilable from diwali on all airtel stores across india & will launch in 3-4 days i.e. in first week of october,he has not confirmed the price.This is confirmed news not any rumours or fake report.cheers for all iphone fans
Good news Guys, Iphone 3GS 16 Gb is now available at 39,500/ at the same shop, phone price has been cut of from 41,000/- to 39,500/- ….I am hoping that till Diwali it will be available to us @ 35000/- (INR)

Just picked up the new HTC Hero with Google’s Android.
Getting used to a new GUI after 2 years of iphone 2g took me about 2 days.. but now im totally satisfied with it. You dont NEED to jailbreak it coz its open-source!! You can do what you want with the software and theres tonnes of apps for it.
There is no need to wait for iphone 3gs, HTC HD2 is coming to india in Nov 2009, which is better than iphone in various aspects,

While the phone is coming in November you still WRONG. Its a windows mobile phone. i.e. its BS. period.
Instead, review the HTC Hero – Google Android OS. The upcoming Sony Experia on Android. I have the Hero, and im glad i didnt bother waiting for the 3GS. Initially it took time from the 2G but this is way better. You can integrate some/all contact from facebook to your phonebook contacts, its picks the photo and birthday and anniver. Does the iphone do that? Its got widgets!! Windows has krappy ones.
For now, Android is the way ahead. Motorola is launching a new device on android. So is Verizon. so are many others.

Guys forget about iphone 3GS and wait for Nokia its worth as it is on the linux based OS and 1GB application memory should be faster than the mac OS Phone.
An apple store sales guy said its launching in first week of november ‘09. i really wish its true this time.
This is all baseless information. How did he confirm from vodafone or airtel I dont know. I spoke to both vodafone and airtel people as few of them are my friends. There is no as such confirmation. Even Apple 3G is not available now.

I got my white 3GS 32GB iPhone in Hongkong, one of the few places where iPhones are officially sold unlocked. Paid Rs.38K at their Apple Store.

In this shop, there are 2 selling counters of 2 different owners.
Pl. don’t purchase from the boy named – Amrieesh OR his uncle at the counter on Right Hand Side in shop.
I purchased 1 chinese mobile of double sim, from this shop.
At purchasing time, I checked camera, mp4 player, and 1 sim, (generally
everyone checks 1 sim only) and all 3 items were okay.
But they cheated me by not telling the defect of the mobile. The 2nd sim slot was not working and I came to know about this defect when I purchased the 2nd number and used 2nd sim in this mobile. It was not working.
When I contacted them and said them to exchange this phone with other, they refused. (I know in case of Chinese phone, money is never refunded).
Therefore, suggesting not to purchase any phone from this shop.
