The Apple iPhone 3GS which is the successor to the previous Apple iPhone 3G was released 3 days ago. Within this short period of 3 days, Apple has managed to sell 1 million units of the iPhone 3GS.
Apple said in a Press Statement on 21st June 2009 ” We have managed to sell one million units of the iPhone 3GS models through Sunday, June 21, the third day after its launch.”
Also over six million customers have downloaded the latest version 3.0 of the iPhone Operating System within five days of it’s release.
“Customers are voting and the iPhone is winning,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “With over 50,000 applications available from Apple’s revolutionary App Store, iPhone momentum is stronger than ever.”
We can expect better iPhone sales in India this time as Nokia N97 and Samsung Omnia HD are expected to be priced in the same band

Apple mention “selling”, but how many of these devices have been “activated”?
Do they count in their “sales” the sales made to operators, or do they really mean the number of devices who already reached the customer?
hi julien ,
Its kinda tricky when they say they have sold.
I guess its the sales made to operators. Looking at the short queues , I don’t see 1 million consumers getting the phone
Yeah, but as usual, Apple is amazing at marketing and everyone relays the info without “pondering” it with anything
Yep, Nokia should recruit a few folks from Apple
I don’t think so.
Nokia is not Apple, they have to find their own way of communicating efficiently.
Getting people from Apple is not gonna change much
Dear Varun,
Can you kindly check with Nokia whether they are going to release that E55 model ever in India. They were keeping up this model for some time in their Indian website and now they have removed it. This phone was supposed to be coming in Q2 and you still have only 7 more days for Q2 to end…
Thanks
Krishna
