At the Nokia N97 Event we got a chance to test the iPhone 3G along with the N97.Since the N97 is seen as a iPhone Killer or even iPhone 3G killer from Nokia (5800 achieved great success as an iPhone killer atleast in the music phone market ) . The situation is interesting now because both iPhone 3G and N97 are going to selling in the same price band of Rs.30000-35000.($600 approx for unlocked phones).
This comparison is mostly hardware related.Hope you enjoy the comparison and the pics
N97 display is great but iPhone is still classy
iPhone is lighter than N97
The iphone has just a home button but nokia has 3 - menu , call , hangup - Nokia wins !
iPhone is Wider than the N97 , but I found it easier to grip the Nokia N97
iPhone is thinner but where's the QWERTY keyboard ? iPhone has the silence button, volume keys on left N97 has the microUSB port and lock key
camera key and volume controls on n97 .. nothing on the iphone 3G on the right
Nokia N97 is a clear Winner with a 5 MP Camera
We love that camera shutter on the N97 , iPhone lacks one

iPhone 3G was seen as a expensive phone so far , but now since n97 is also in the same price range it is interesting !
Ha ha ha … Even I’m Nokia/Symbian fan and have been fan for years, stop pretending with these pseudo comparison tha N97 is better than iPhone … If I had to choose considering all-in-all feature and value for money, I would choose iPhone instead of N97 that I consider as a … Joke …

You should add up about the Screen quality of both under normal condition and sunlight. Is it clearly visible? And which one reflect the light most?
Though I know there a huge difference among both camera but still I would like to see how camera’s of both performs under different light conditions. It would be useful for us if you can update that here.
Silly comparison considering the iPhone does not have a qwerty keyboard, nor does it have 5MP camera, nor does it have a tilting screen?
Does it even have themes? I stand to be corrected, but aren’t all screens black so icons are more defined? Does the iPhone support widgets and movable widgets on the front screen?
But what about sound quality comparision ????????
i go for iphone its better then the symbian nokia phones….
cos iphone never hangs if u fill full memory…

N 97 is more advanced then iphone….So, i choice to N97..
All are putting marks on N 97 but dear friends what about application softwares that is delivered by apple…………. .
check apple itunes there are 1500+ applications / games available
I will definately prefer i phone 3G. The display and applications are at the top.
i agree to the comparision, but what about the Application softwares of n97, will it compete to the I-phone.
though i phone has 128mb of ram and nokia n97 is having 256mbof ram.
how much difference will it make in running other than nokia orignal softwares.
Guyz… Actually both of the device do have it’s own speciallity.. So.. It’s really so.. Tough to compare.. But if it’s about me.. I will go 4 nokia n97. Cause i-phone do have a lot many restrictions..
I prefer N97, because it is feature rich and also not as restrictive as Apple.
Do develop an iphone application, its a joke, to buy one MAC pc for doing development on Iphone SDK ..LOL…

as the comparsion was nice but my choice was iphone rocks ,as nokia was also best company among mobile brand but the new trend begins with iphone only so with no doubt IPHONE is good & best than n97

I can’t believe people worldwide are even comparing the two phones! Ultimately, it comes down to the slickness of how applications are rendered on screen, ease of use, and functionality. Apple is way ahead of the game when it comes to ’slick delivery’. The thought process that the designers and developers go through to reach this level is unmatchable. People talk about this extra querty keyboard which quite frankly is a backward step in mobile technology. If a phone has a touch screen, then that should be all you need. If it has both, then the designer of the phone is not fully confident that the touch screen is adequate. The iPhone has been designed so beautifully, that one will never need to question the need for a secondary keyboard.
As for the apps available for the iPhone, well, these also need to be designed with slickness in mind, and the third party developers that design these apps, live up to Apple standards, they have to, and they want to!
I’m thoroughly amused at you people. The N97 is quite clearly superior in almost EVERY aspect a phone could have, yet people prefer aesthetics to functionality. How pathetic. Oh well, you’re entitled to your opinions, but I’m sorry if you can’t see it, but when is comes to what phones are used for nowadays, the N97 is better in every way. Deal with it.

Haha how can you possibly think the nokia is better! It has better specs yes, but it just doesn’t work! It’s so slow to run anything, just slugish, like all nokia n-series phones! All look good on paper but cannot proforme. The overall looks of the software is just horrible. Nothing looks or runs as good as the iPhone, the nokia’s system looks cheap and tacky while the iPhone remains classy. The touchscreen on the nokia is also shocking! No multi touch! Come on! I’ve yet to know someone who has looked at the nokia and gone wow.. I want that. It has no wow factor just behind the times copying trying to beat other phones by throwing every spec into it. Haha oh yer and OVI store!? Hahahahaha don’t make me laugh, what a joke.

I, myself, have been a Nokia user for a long time but it comparison with the both phones, I believe that iphone stands unmatched and unbeatable among all other phones may it be Nokia, S E, or Samsung etc.
When you load your Nokia with stuffs, it sucks and respond in ages. The latest N81 which is capacitive of handling 8GB, but it even does not support a 4GB card loaded upto 500mb. And also when it comes to after purchase warranty, Nokia care are so Naive to handle your item and never give the item in as it is condition.
I am waiting to have a change to go for iphone 3gs. I know there are certain limitation/restriction in Apple’s item but it still stands way out of the Game and it will take decades to compete it by the other manufacturers

i believe that all gadgets behave that way man… if you already know that it slows down the phone then dont put loads of files, i think iphone will behave the same at some point
those who actually think can see that this argument isnt really about n97 vs. iphone. this whole thing is about those who have n97 vs. those who have iphone. all i can say is that you guys chose your own phone, dont ruin it for anybody just because you made the wrong choice! better yet grab both phones.. i bet you’ll be happy and keep in mind that these phones are made for different purposes and its completely unfair to compare them. lmao
Wrong! nokia is more safer. iphone does not a slot for microSD, once u dropped ur iphone in the water, built-in battery dead problems or any other problems, u wont get ur data back. all finished. its better save datas onto memory card.
i personal think that i would go for an iphone cuz just i used both phones i liked iphone way better.. i have been a real big fan of nokia’s and was also a part of the s60 team. but n97 has everything but it just doesn’t have that look and that attention that iphone got. i know nokia is safer and everything in w.e way u think of. but iphone is cheap and is still being sold alot.
but it’s up to u guyz choice which u think is the best for u and also stay in limits of ur money lol,cuz it’s marketing. new stuff comes everything day/every month.
