    Dear Mr.Varun,
I am one of the frequent visitor to your fonearena blog. I like the contents of this blog particularly latest news and price list. I am disappointed since April 2009 because you are not updating the price list on monthly basis as you used to do before. kindly update.

    I have a question for Mr.Axel Meyer.

    Mr.Meyer,
I am eagerly looking for Nokia N97 because of its features like QWERTY, touch screen, music, camera and loads of applications compatibility. My question is how good the N97 in handling multiple applications / multi-tasking? does S60 OS still crash like the old mobiles such as N72, N70, N73 etc. I used 6610, 6600, and 6630 for long time and am great fan of 6630 and still own it.
I am using Sony Ericsson P1i since 2years and am really happy with its performance except it’s bit slow. Its multi-tasking capability is amazing, UI is impressive. if N97 is good in handling multi-tasking, I would buy it on the very first day. Kindly answer my query.
    Anticipating ur kind reply.

Dear varun , can you please ask the following questions :

    1. The primary logic behind nokia’s sticking with resistive touchscreen was ability to use stylus for handwriting recognition. But n97 dont use stylus (not atleast nest it) , so why did they stick with resistive vs capacitive.

    2. The amount of ram reported is about 50-60 mb. From experience with 5800 , its evident that this is just not enough , especially if two tabs are open in browser . Why didn’t they increased ram amount.

    3. The amount of memory in most n97 could easily be 40gb. What do they expect people to use that fucntion for ? They dont even offer native divx/xvid support.

    4. Why didn’t they used amoled screen like samsung or any new good devices.

    5. What is the expected life of n97 ? And when he answers a few years , ask him with symbian^2 coming , will their flagship product still be relevent after six month ?

    6. N97 have share its features with eseries siblings , good metallic design , qwerty keyboard , not so much emphasis on camera . So where will eseries go ?

    7. What should we expect from next flagship nseries ?n95 was convergence , N97 iss all about connectec life . What is n98 gonna be ?

    8. And last very important question for indian market , with 5320 , n78 and n81 being discontinued , practically s60 phone price starts from ~17k INR These days (barring the ancient n73 and niche e63). But nokia was supposed to lower their s60 price point , so what is nokia’s actual strategy ?

    Hello Mr. Varun
I am a regulor visitor of your blog and big
Fan of Nokia N Series Phones.

Is Nokia N 97 is a phone like any other phones produced by nokia except its storage capacity, qwerty keyboard and Touch.
I mean to say is this phone also slow like other N series phones ?
    I have used N 70 , N 73, N 95, N 96 and 5800.
But the best I had was N 95.

I would like to ask Nokia that why can’t they make phones like Black Berry ? See the speed of internet browsing and other applications.
If u try to do the same Nokia phones gets hang.
Please assure that N 97 does not all these problems.

I still believe Nokia is a great company and they can make it.

    Waiting For N 97 to launch ?

    Currently using BB 8900.

    Thank You

    Questions:

1)Please comment on the CPU and RAM which seems to be the primary bottleneck and the only item which are holding many fans back
    2) We understand there will be substantial updates, like Skype… what other software updates are planned?

    Thank you,

    Hello,

I live in the US and went to the Nokia website to purchase the new N97. I used a discount code that I received from a friend who works for Nokia in Dallas.

The promo code was CART-409N. My cost after using this was $454.35. Nokia said they would honor my code but the N97 never shipped. Now the other cannot be found in the system. I have been VERY excited about this phone and wanted to rub this N97 in my Apple IPhone colleagues face… but after this snafu I guess we will just have to join the Apple IPhone crew. This really makes me upset since I am also a large stock holder of NOK.

Oh well.. I guess that’s the way the cookie crumbles.

    Good luck Nokia!!

    Hi Varun

I read on your website that the Nokia N97 will be available by the 23rd of June. Can i pick it up on the same day or would have to wait for a few days more to buy it from a mobile store in Bangalore?

    Thanks
    Tarun

  • Why is the space bar located at the right hand side of the keyboard?

  • Rod says:

Has Nokia finally realized that a large number of smartphone users are Apple users? How will the N97 interact with Apple/Mac computers and software?

    Thanks

  • V.S.Ravindra says:

Nokia n-97 is out finally, but soon it will become obsolete with vintage 5MP Cam ( could ‘ve been 8MP ), Samsung has 8MP phones already , its launching 12 MP cam phones shortly, Sony ERICCSON is bringing 12mp cam with xenon flash, so where does NOKIA N-97 stand ?

    Dear Varun,
I am a regulor visitor of your blog and big
Fan of Nokia N Series Phones.

I have a request for Marketting.

I thing its (Nokia n-97)one of the best mobile in mobile world.

Fans are very heigh for this model but Users are very low , if you reduce the Price many people will buy this mobile. If you people provide instalment base many people will buy this model.

We have a lots of carporate Employees in India so if you people reach out them they will buy that and you can conduct some “Melas” in carporate officess.By the way try to reduce the Price less than 20000/- then every one can intrested to buy that model.

    Thanks

    Dear Varun
Recently i purchased Nokia N97 and i was not impressed with its secondary camera, my HTC touch secondary camera is much much better than what Nokia is providing on this high end phone. Secondly I am unable to activate my GPRS on mtnl delhi network, it always gives an error message data packet not available.
It is turning sour my charm of purchasing such a costly set.

  • Aryan says:

    Dear Mr. Varun,
I have a question from you and Mr. Meyer:
What will the N98 look like? When will it be announced? What type of phone will it be (candybar, clamshell, slider…etc.)? If there is any any any information about the N98 please let me know.
    Thank You

  • Dear Mr. Axel Meyer, I have gone through a lot of reviews of this marvellous looking wonder N97. What troubles me is, it says that to answer a call the green button does not work, nor does the red button to end/reject a call. Now Sir, you will agree that in spite of all the fancy features – after all this is mainly a phone no? then why this complicated process for using it as one? Also the In-box items they do not mention PC-Suite CD, is it included? Else how to interface the same with a PC/Laptop? Regards and wish you ALL the success. Peerooz Shapoorjee

    Hello there,

I’am using nokia n-97 now, when the key guard is

active, there is a problem recieving the in comming call, means-

there are two things which one has to do. first the phone switch has

to be slided down , two we have to drag the touch slider to be

able to receive the call , this is some what a nuisance, atleat the

key guard should have been deactivated automatically when there is

    an incomming call,

This blog is very good. I have the Nokia 97 and have downloaded Skype (it was not already downloaded as it is mentioned in some websites). I am able to log in to my account but there is no option to make a Skype to Skype call or a Skype Out call. Please could you help me. If it is of any use, I live in Zurich, Switzerland yet I am using Skype in my Nokia n 97 using the wireless line connection at home.
    Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Chau! Malu

  • Varun Krish says:

    Malu ,

Skype does not allow calling as of now . It routes the calls thru GSM only .

We should see a new version of Skype which supports your requested features.
