Stumbled over a tweet by the Windows Mobile Development Team, mentioning:

For the record, Windows Mobile 6.5 is DONE… complete… looks really good IOHO and every bit functional. ping us if u want to know more.

Remember, earlier we mentioned – Windows Mobile 6.5 coming on May 11. Though it was expected to be launched on May 11th, the above message was been tweeted on May 14 so its obvious that WM6.5 was launched on May 14th. The Phone Magazine reports that, by “Done”, Microsoft means that WM 6.5 is already done and is ready for manufacturers to use them.

Yes, I was excited to read the wmdev tweet about windows mobile 6.5 being official. This is very exciting. I am ready to get my hands on the new SDK and I am anxious to see some of the new phones with 6.5 on them too.

It will be September by the time phones with WM 6.5 roll out :)

Since the announcement of windows mobile 6.5 there has been a lot of buzz in the development community. The DTK was released and we are playing with the new API’s for gestures and with widgets. I think 6.5 was a good step in the right direction but users are wanting more from windows mobile from a UI perspective and I am hopeful that version 7 will be a continued success. With the announcement of the zune hd, many of us are hoping for these features and technologies to make their way into v7.
