Another much hyped and talked about term in the Indian mobile industry is Mobile Number Portability (MNP) using which a mobile customer can migrate to various other operators retaining his existing number.

Earlier it was reported that MNP implementation is on its way to India. But recently the regulatory agencies have come up with the exact launch date for MNP services in various parts of India. The launch date for the first phase is declared to be September 20 which is just a couple of months away.

Also, reportedly the following telecom circles would see MNP in the first phase.

  • Delhi
  • Mumbai
  • Maharashtra
  • Kolkata
  • Gujarat
  • Andhra Pradesh
  • Chennai
  • Tamil Nadu
  • Karnataka.
