Nokia started work on WidSets which would offer the very latest and wide variety of applications, games, feeds etc. They would be compatible with various pones from various manufacturers.

Now there’s news that the WidSets site by Nokia would be changed into the OVI Store which Nokia describes as the one-stop global store for mobile games, apps, videos, social content etc. Nokia announced that from the 1st of June 2009, the WidSets account will no longer be available.

Thus users will have to grab the WidSets at the OVI store from 1st June onwards.

Here’s what Nokia has to say on the OVI store:

“Ovi Store consolidates the best experiences from Nokia’s current content services, including WidSets™, Download!, and MOSH into a single channel. Ovi Store content will range from widgets, applications and games to videos and podcasts for Nokia S40 and S60 devices.

Find the latest games, applications, videos, ringtones and widgets from leading brands like Disney, Paramount, MTV, Shazam, MySpace, Electronic Arts and many more. All of the content is specially selected for you and your mobile device!

Go to http://store.ovi.com to find out more.”
