I agree with Varun that 3G should be considered a VAS (I know its a technology) as it is not required for a basic mobile user (primarily using voice only). It is useful mainly for those who want to enjoy high speed internet browsing, email, data download, video transfer etc.,

As the providers have to invest a huge money for the infrastructure, the initial subscribers have to bear the high tariff (nowhere to find an idea of the tariff yet).

As with any other plans in the mobile arena, it has to come down once there are more number of subscribers and more providers and competition becomes high.

N95 8GB supports 2100 Mhz band if you bought it in India

It should support 3G

We can wait for announcement from Goverment regarding this information

N73 has support for 2100 Mhz band of 3G which might be the same band adopted by India

Airtel has still not got the license to offer 3G services. We can see something in 6 months from now

To deploy 3G … Government and Operators are spending crores of money .. They will expect users who use this premium service to pay extra to recover the expenses ..

You can call it VAS or Premium Service or what ever .. You are not going to get it for free ..

It might get cheaper once more users start using it ..

I am very much sure that mr. varun is living in fool’s paradise because in his article he mentioned that 3G is value added service and one has to pay for it , let me correct him for once and for all that 3G is a technology not vas and from the past three years whole india was eagerly waiting for this service to launch including govt. of india, telecom operators ,trai and people like us and i remined you that inspite of heartly and deeply welcome this service you are making question about it , you must welcoe this service because this is the GREATEST MOMENT in indian telecom technology history till now and we all must be very proud on it .

And what are the guesses regarding its charges/tariffs?
