I had a chance to look at the first Blackberry flip phone the 8220 when I was at a T-Mobile Store

Unfortunately , the phone was low on battery and I could not do much other than just appreciate the looks ..

few pics after the jump

Even though the screen was small .. the text is crisp and breaks the monotonous looks of the blackberrys’

RIM has managed to accomodate the QWERTY keypad on this one .

Features in the FLIP

  • 240×320 pixels display
  • 160×128 external display
  • Quad band GSM
  • Maps
  • 2 Mega Pixel Camera
  • 3.5 mm headset jack
  • enhanced keyboard
  • Hot swappable microSD card

BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 with numerous features and look really alluring everyone including me. I was to purchase this in India. Please let me know its procurement in India as early as possible.

  • Hi Varun:

Great site! I’m currently using the Blackberry 8220 Pearl Flip and love it. I upgraded from the regular Blackberry Pearl. I especially love the Flip 8220 version because you can take video and upload via mobile to YouTube, very cool.

The keypad is in the QWERTY order – however there is not a key for every letter, so you do still have to double press one key to get whichever letter you are looking for. It’s not a full QWERTY keyboard … Nevertheless, it’s a much smoother keypad than my previous Pearl.

The video production feature is the BEST! :-)

    Thanks :)

    Hey,
    Neat microsite.
Any idea if the Flip is coming to India? And if it is, when?
I wish they’d price the phones a little lower. I quite liked the Bold as well, but for that price I do not feel the urge to change my Nokia E90. :)
