Should you buy the iPhone - you tell us

As the day draws near, when two leading mobile phone operators in India, Airtel and Vodafone launch the iPhone, here is a low down on the negative aspects of the handset…that we read in an In-Flight magazine of a leading Indian airline.
1. Earphones: The iPhone sports “bland” looking regular earphones that are neither classy not stylish. The sound quality is good but the design is very cheap.
2. Technology: Apart from the touch screen, the handset does not use much technology. Depending on the model released may be missing features such as Java, FM Radio, Bluetooth, GPS, or the ability to forward messages, send business cards etc.
3. Applications: Third party applications must be installed via iTunes App Store and this means that this handset is not really the normal “smart phone”.
4. Touch screen: The touch screen on the iPhone is known to be cumbersome to use due to the scratch guard.
5. Customisation: The themes on the iPhone cannot be changed. So no wallpapers, themes or cover panels etc. Even the ring tones are not changeable!
Now this is what we’ve read. Tell us what you feel!

Yes i wud like to buy this phone i know it missing some features especially java and bluetooth stereo headset connectivity but it is still better than its competitor htc touch diamond iphone have larger display(iphone 3.8~ and htc diamond 2.8~) and its safari browser is something better than opera 9.5 in htc touch diamond although safari doesn’t support flash and real tabbed browsing still its a nice and fast browser and i like many more features in iphone that i misses in other phones
i-Phone is lacking lots of features which are very common and are available in some of the very old models available as well as models out of the market. So I feel its waste of money to buy a Apple I-Phone.
Just heard that iphone doesnt support mp3 ringtones. Also it doesnt have a video recorder. What a mess!!
any ideas bout price ??
No not at all. The phone is not at all attractive. Better mobiles are already there in Indian market. Spending 24K or 25K for I.phone will be a waste.
The short answer is I will buy the iphone without any doubt. 3 main reasons : the innvative use of existing features like sms, great music features of ipod and finally the all powerful apps store. You can red my detailed response at my blog at http://binaryday.com/2008/08/17/why-i-love-the-iphone/
I will not buy I phone for simple reason.
Less memory (N96 has 24 GB).
Less MP camera (N96 has 5 MP camera)
No video recording (N96 has it)
Non replacable battery (in N96 you can replcae one)
SMS can’t be forwarded (N96 allow it)
No bluetooth (N96 has it)
No rich appl. (N96 has inbuilt fac.)
No FM radio (N96 has it)
No GPS (N96 has it)
No TV (N96 has it)
Vodafone has announced their price of iPhone. It’s Rs.31,000 and Rs.36100 for 8gb and 16gb versions respectively. These prices are too much for a mobile without video recording, mms, bluetooth etc. Better buy a Sony Ericsson P1i for Rs.16500 and has lot of features than this phone. Or else go for Nokia E71.
N96 is the true iphone killer. with prices of iphone being so expensive and features not even half equivalent to what the n96 offers, i don’t seem to understand why i would like to shell out such a hefty amount..
i am ready to wait for n96
hi…everyone,
the iphone is expensive …
N96 is also expensive…
But n96 has latest symbian software and more features….
Finally look at the camera iphone has only 2mp against n96, 5mp camera..
Iphone does not have many common features that we have taken for granted inphones since long times….
I would prefer n96 , still both phones are overpriced…
Without Mp3 Ringtones, Video Capture, 8GB for 26000 & 16GM for 31000 is simply waste of money. Its better to go for any of the Nokia N or E series. It is cost effective and proved in Indian market with all the featurs I-phone is lacking ranging from 10,000 to max. 32,000. So don’t even think about i-phone.
iPhone is only attractive for its UI better looking icons. But lacking lots of features.its just waste of money.its better to buy Nokia N95 or N96 both have xcelent features.guys just think what the APPLE suppose to launch iPhone in INDIA.Nokia Series 40 phones have better features than iPhone ha ha ha ha ha.shame on you Apple!
just 1 word for the apple i phone. SHIT
