After we saw that Vodafone India opened bookings for iPhone 3G .. Now Bharti Airtel does not want to stay far behind.. I landed on this 3g iphone page on Airtel’s website
The website says Become the proud owner of Apple iPhone3G on Airtel.
They also have a form to sign up for the iPhone
Why are they not revealing the pricing ??
Some interesting info on the page – Some features and services are not available in many areas. The apple logo and trademarks are of Apple Inc. First come and first serve basis.
Are they trying to create a hype ?? Millions of iPhones are in stock in Apple’s cellars worldwide
Keep reading our blog for constant updates on this topic
Need to wait till July 11 to know more

i like this mobile, this mobile is totally different to another mobile
i need this phone.
this is totally different.
Just Want to know iF IPHONE 3G is not having following features?;-
No video calling,
no AD2P on the Bluetooth,
CAN’T share ANY (mp3, images, videos….) files via bluetooth,
can’t use as a wireless modem, (you pay ridiculous data charges to activate internet on your phone, but cannot connect it to your PC and browse when you are at home)
no copy and paste,(cannot copy a part of a…. say…. email & send it….have to type it out yourself)
no 3.2 or 5 megapixel camera,(the 2MP camera it carries is worst camera i’ve ever seen….. photos look like they have come out of a VGA camera)
no video recording with camera,
no front camera,
no flash.
no JAVA support
No physical keyboard (BELIEVE me! this alone is a dealbreaker…touch keyboard as good as it looks…once you use it then only you come to know about the importance of having a hard keypad)
No 3G network yet in India..so why pay for expensive 3G phone if you cant use its 3G services … so, for India, iPhone 2.0 is no better than its first version
No removable battery. (You cannot change battery. Have to send it to apple outlet.. Come on now!!!!…This is not an iPod. Its a bloody phone. You cannot live without phone for 2-3 days)
No haptic feedback and
cannot send MMS,
can’t use as external storage device (16 GB of utter waste..next time you go to your friend’s house & find some interesting songs, movies, etc…sorry you cannot connect your ‘16 GB’ phone and share it!!!! Apple apparently has a solution.. ” BUY MUSIC & MOVIES FROM iTUNES STORE “….. Give me a break will you APPLE!!!)
no FM radio,
can’t use your mp3 files as ringtones,(This is heights man!!!)
cannot insert any other SIM card….
completely tied to iTunes… Connect to your friend’s iTunes & you risk erasing everything on your phone.
Thank u Yuvraj for ur good advice..i thought to buy that mobile…now i wont….
Woah ! Dude! Chill ! You can make a lot of critical comments for most of the phones available today. There is no such thing as the perfect phone….only those that come close to perfection.
Let me answer you in the same manner as your criticism.
You really use video calling ? I may be different than the rest. But i dont use it even in Yahoo messenger. And my girlfriend refuses to come on video chat….even though we have unlimited broadband connections.
You use AD2P? For the uninitiated, thats stereo in bluetooth headset. I personally dont use even a wired headset. And it doesnt make a difference if i have a communication in stereo or mono. Did you just say music ??? For the cost of a stereo bluetooth headset, i can get myself a highend, in ear, wired earphones. Now why would i want to invest so much in a bluetooth (read stereo) headset.
Cant share MP3s and files. True. You got me at that. I use a pen drive.
No modem. You got another point. But then it is a computer on its own.
And moreover, connecting your phone to the computer to surf the net, is just an overkill for your battery. All who use their mobiles to connect
to their computers to surf the net know it.
Copy – Paste. Coming in the next firmware upgrade. Check Iphone sites.
You actually use your mobile’s camera to capture your memories? Then N95 i own has a 5MP camera. Takes worse pictures than a cheap 3.2 MP kodak camera i own. Really dude. A phone can do without a camera. Believe me.
No video recording. You got me here too. Personal tastes is my defense. I dont even use my HD Sony. that very much. Good to own one….but nobody wants to watch your movies…(unless untill you are Ram Gopal Varma)
No flash, no java support. Both these softwars are for general applications in the net. But the phone supports javascript….and has rendering faster than any other phone available. Try accesing full scale web sites in any other phone compared to an iphone…and you my friend will be rudely shocked. The iphone is way ahead. On the lighter side….no flash is no banner ads…..means faster loading of web sites. But then Adobe is coming oy with the flash version for iphone. And by the way did you know that youtube videoa are all flash ? Well youtube is supported in the iphone. Honest.
You are right about the Keyboard. Feels “cold” in the begining when you use it. But then you get so used to it that you dont notice later on….Juat like i was so used to the limited 3 alphabet per button keyboard i had got so used to on my nokia. I could really type very fast with it. But then a full keyboard…….
No haptic feedback. Well arnt you asking a bit too much ?
No 3G services in India. My N95 has 3G support. Didnt stop me from getting one. Most of the medium to highend phones already have 3G support in them. Why single out the iphone?
No removable battery. In the begining it felt frustrating…..but then i dropped it. It didnt disintegrate when it fell on the ground like a nokia or a sony. A blessing here. And also th battery is real good. Lasts for 3 yrs atleast….and even then retains 80 per cent charge. Really, i know of not many who have actually bought a new battery for their phones.
No external storage. No file swapping. Bad. Wont miss it much. Just like the extra iGB card i bought for my n95, and never used it (come to think of it….where is it now ???? i totally forgot about that extra card….)
No FM. Hmmm. 8GB … will hold most of my music collection. (1 gb holds 8 hours of music). Na…wont miss it.
You definately can use your mp3 songs as your ringtone. Convert them from song.mp3 to song.m4a in itunes (which is aac format, much more advanced than mp3…check wikipedia) and then rename it to song.m4r and import it back to itunes. You will find it in the ringtones section.
Connect to your friend’s itunes by authorising your iphone in his itunes. You can authorise your phone on upto 5 computers without losing your data.
Dude, you dont now much about Apple (read macs) and i dont think you have any idea about the iphone.
Its more like a computer. Infact a study by Cnet says that, 20 percent of americans who use iphones have reduced their use of their laptops drastically. Maybe, they didnt read your comments.
Most possibly you wont be getting yourself an iphone. But do check it out from your friends, when they get them. You will love it, and never leave it.
Hello friends,
I have just read the discussion of Yuvraj and Vikram. Now I am totally confused.
I am planning to buy Iphone. No matter what are its defects. I just want own an Iphone.
I love Iphone, because of its attractive look, slim and GPS navigation, safari browser, audio clarity and much more.
Yuvraj, I have read a blog where it says, you can unlock Iphone and use any other GSM SIM cards. If you would like to view it, I can paste the web link for you.
It is sad Vikram that you could not defend you love for Iphone. All you could say in defence is “You got me”. Iphone is a just a sexy looking phone. Thats it. It is nowhere close to the superior Nseries in all that it can do. It has got miles to go before it can catch up with Nokia in tech
Dude,
You must be joking. After reading such a long testimony of mine, you couldnt note sarcasm.
Our basic mentality is of – how much more do i have, than you…
when it should be – how better is mine than yours !!!
I own a N95 too, and it has given me months of good service. Even after the first gen iPhone was released, the N95 was a better telephone.
The iPhone has come many a far distance since then. The secret is the software. Where iPhone succeeds is better GUI and a much superior ease of use. Its a total no brainer, when you want to work on it. Where the N95 miserabaly fails.
For starters, if you want to download a program for the N95 or any of the Nseries, then you have to search…..and search. Even then, the software will be crude, and not error free. And i am talking most of the time. It definately is a very versatile phone, thats why i never disposed off it, and even today its my backup phone. But look at the battery. 2 and a half hours talk time. And I am talking…on the streets timing. That in itself is one of the biggest disadvantages. Subsequent firmware updates did not bring major feature changes in the telephone (last updated FW 21…….21 firmware upgrades and still the same state)
Look where iPhone has arrived today. Considering you bought the ver 1 Iphone last year, each software upgrade has brought dramatic new changes and features. The iPhone competes with itself and betters itself every time ! Today the same phone can be upgraded to ver 2.0 and, it is as good as a new phone……..Nokia had to come up with N96.
iPhone might be lacking with a few features like MMS, and camera quality. But it more than complements with the quality of “apps” available for it. It has already surpassed the number of apps available for the Symbian phones….and still counting.
Mobile coys like Nokia have done a commendable job in bringing technologies to the common man, which he could only dream of. But the iPhone has gone a step further, in bringing ease of use and a new functionality – - which makes the Nseries feel ancient.
Mark my words, the app store just opened 3 weeks back, and has brought new capabilities to the telephone which even apple could not have imagined…..and it is just the begining…..and i know that unlike a Nokia telephone….one year from now i wont be stuck with an obsolete model…..but a Phone that is as good as when i originally bought it. All I had to do was upgrade the software….free. The app store already has games, you cannot imagine playing on a Nokia….any series….(did someone say “snakes”?), voice recorders, RSS readers, blogging software, internet radio, and the list goes on.
The only reason you should have not have an iPhone is….you cannot afford it. Because if one cribs about the features it does not have (which will be added sooner or later), then one should stay with his old telephone.(which has FM….somehow that is a very important QR for a good phone)
I am not a salesman for a telephone, just cheesed off the way some people do not see potential in something that is nothing less than revolutionary. Its a PDA cum telephone, for your everyday use. Thats the market, and those are the kinds of people who must have it. I highly recommend it, if you want a little computer in your hands. But if you want FM, camera and MMS….there is the Nokia always (I heard that they slashed their rates by 10 %).
I need iphone but we do not know price
What is the price iphone?
yuvraj, plz dont waste ur time in typing such long comments…u dont know nething about apple or iphone…just ask ur frenzz who r using it..they”l tell u….thanx
i have seen this phone in usa last month. i need this phone in india , i want to know your price .
Hi,
I phone price starts from Rs.8600 to Rs.24000.
the price differs with the model and memory requirements. but every i phone has 3g,gps and maps for 6 months(free). If you are a airtel subscriber then the usage of maps is free, but not for vodafone….
Thanks,
I have own it & belive me it is best in it’s class. I am planing to buy another one.
Will any body tell me what is the difference between iPhone worth 8600 & 24000? What is the difference in memory & other features.
Varun Prashar.
I am using iphone 3g since its launch day in USA. Apart from AT&T 3G Network, iphone itself sucks in many features.
1) MAIL features like gmail, yahoo never works. Many times we have to delete the accounts and reset the phone settings to view new mails in Iphone. Apple forums are flooded with this type of issue from many users.
2) Phone volume never stays the same. It goes low automatically and have to adjust every time while on a call.
3) 2MP Camera is still not suffcient. No Flash (unlike RIM)
4) Many APPS are just crap. They hang the phone.
5) One good feature. This is a good IPOD. We can have an IPOD with phone capabilities. Certainly not worth a price, if offered more than 10000 in INDIAN RUPEES.
learn how 2 use it prakash
Hi Prakash,
Thanks for your suggestions.

Hi!!!!!
mr. Yuvraj has a lot of problem with Iphone. Well all i can say is that , Iphone is not that bad as said by Mr. Yuvraj.
Iphone is the most misunderstood phone in india.
People they dont know how to use it, give any absurd comment on their blogs.
Here is some tips that can be followed to ignore Iphone’s flaw.
1. Its new software update can be downloaded from apple official website. This will help you to forward message with its cut copy paste option.
2. Ringtone can be created with the help of Itune. Here’s the way:
(a) Just the song in your Itune music folder.
(b) Right click on it and click on “GET INFO”
(c) Now go to options and there change the start time and stop time.
(d) Now click ok.
(e) Again right click on song and click on convert aac version
(f) A new m4a format file will be created. Now edit the m4a format to m4r format and your ringtone is created.
3. Talking about 3g, so its under talk. Goverment will bring it soon. you ca use gps or wifi.
4. About video recording, so a firmware from itune can be downloaded from itune that enables video recording.
5. ever played NFS on iphone????
try it once. you will forget psp.
i Can bet on that.
6. About mp3, so it has got ipod. the Undisputed campion of mp3 players.
7. About maps, its one of the best.
If any extra quieries, plz do ask me!!! But plz dont make any wrong impression of Iphone, that too by listening a so called tech savy.
I would love o help u on this.
i can say this because i myself on an Iphone. I agree the cost in India is too much. But regarding its flaw, it can be handled. just google your problem and you’ll get your solutions.
Thank you
Happy to help…………..
