The Samsung D880 is a Dual SIM phone from Samsung .. I was trying out this phone at a local cell phone store called HelloWorld in Chennai

The Coolest feature about this phone is that you can actually select the SIM when you actually make a call ..

Imagine being able to switch between Airtel and Hutch sorry Vodafone when you are in the city and inside a building where no network is having the best signal . The phone looks cool and some great features

    Apart from the ability to house 2 SIMS i did not find it value for money, for the following reasons
    1. Battery life is very poor
    2. External interface is samsung specific, comapared to nokia or motorolla where USB ports used are common across devices
    3. Its not as user friendly as nokia or motorolla
    4. Speaker Volume is less as compared to Motorolla or Sony Erricson
    5. I could not find the silence option when you dont want to pick a incoming call immedately

    I took it for 12K 10 days back and am looking at selling it out for 10K

    I bought this phone in Chennai for about Rs 12,300 in Chennai in March of this year and have been using it for the past 7 months. My model is complete black in color and not the silver model.

    I read the questions that people have been posing on this phone. This is a Dual “GSM” SIM phone. You cannot use a Tata Indicom or Reliance or any other CDMA SIM in this phone. You can use only GSM SIM cards from operators like Airtel, Aircel, BPL, Vodafone etc.

    I am not sure if the Battery life is that Bad. After a full charge, I have talked on several continuous conference calls and I can say that I have been on continuous calls for more than 3 to 4 hours and still have battery life remaining at the end of the day.

    This is a Tri-Band phone and hence works in the US also. I agree with Prasad’s comment on Interfaces, user friendliness and silent options. The world knows that no one can beat Nokia in user friendliness. In fact I am a diehard fan of Nokia and will buy the first model of dual SIM phone from Nokia. This phone is only for people who do not want to carry 2 phones for 2 SIM cards. There has to be a compromise somewhere. We cannot expect everything immediately. I am atleast thankful to Samsung that they have thought about bringing in this concept and I am definitely happy using this than using a Chinese model phone (Heavy and huge) or to carry 2 phones. Until the top end mobile phone manufacturers start coming out with dual-SIM phones, I guess this model is definitely a good start.

    I also use the MP3 Player in this phone to listen to songs and I have been happy using this. The Camera is 3 MP and the clarity has been decent. The User interface is slow (unlike Nokia). You can set different ring tones for both the SIMs so that you know for which SIM you are receiving the call.
