Speaking on the occasion, Kunal Ahooja, chief executive officer of Spice Mobiles, said, “Spice Mobiles has tied up with Opera to upgrade the feature offerings on our handsets, and provide a better browsing experience to our customers. The Opera Mini browser ensures a desktop-like experience as it automatically customizes the size and look of Web sites to fit the mobile screen.”

Opera does not alter the content of web pages much but manages to compress the content to offer speedy downloads of web pages. Users can therefore view pages faster than other browsers, decreasing costs. The browser will be pre-loaded on all Spice Java enabled and GRPS handsets.

On the occasion Tatsuki Tomita, senior vice president (Consumer Solutions) of Opera Software, said, “Spice Mobiles has realized the potential of mobile browsing, and Opera is proud to be an integral part of their mission to bring full Internet access to affordable phones.”

Spice Mobiles becomes the first handset manufacturer in India to offer full Web browsing with Opera Mini.
