Nokia E51 is a great upgrade to the old Nokia E50.Since a lot of readers are asking us about this phone we thought of writing a review about this latest entrant to the Nokia E Series . You might have seen my post on Nokia E Series in India
Simply put , Nokia wants to make its E Series devices as popular as the N Series ones
Connectivity
Has got it all – Quadband , 3G, HSDPA – its a 3.5G phone infact. Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) , Bluetooth , USB are all present.
Camera and Media
Its got a 2 Mega Pixel Camera which is pretty common affair in Nokia phones these days but they are not top notch cameras. Come on I m not looking for a High Quality photography on a Enterprise phone. In fact , i feel a Camera is not worth it.Its got QVGA video recording also.Whats cool is that it has a FM Radio so that you can tune in to the nearest radio station. It also plays most but not all media formats.
Memory
Its got 130 MB of phone memory and upto 4GB of microSD expansion possible.
Battery
It comes with a powerful 1050 mAh battery which can last for about a week with minimal usage and about 1-2 days with extensive usage.
Built
Its the best combination of features and style. Its 12mm thick . But not flimsy. Its kinda rigid and a good fit in the palm.
The handset weighs 100g and is not on the lighter side.Highlight – Its got a dedicated home key which takes you to the phone home screen – something inspired by the Apple iPhone home key.
Display
Although the display is small in terms of physical size it sports a 320240 pixel resolution with 16 million colors
Price and Purchasing this Sexy E Series Beauty
The E51 was launched at Rs.20000 India in September last year.
Its now priced at Rs.12400 and is a great buy for sure.
Its targeted at Business users, Women and Enterprise users.

Nokia E 51 is an excellent phone in all respects but it lacks certain basic features like alarm , calculator
stopwatch !! Can u believe any phone without an alarm or calci function !!
God only knows when nokia will make a complete phone.

I am using Alarm and Calculator since the very first day on E51. Write to me if you need any help finding these options. These are in Office folder.

wow.. ppl, u’ve got ur hands on THE device.. n u think it doesnt have basic functions like.. calculator? alarm?? jus shows how u have no idea what u’ve got.. dive into those menus n submenus.. this phone has everything.. n if u think otherwise.. give me ur phone

no software probs – excellent phone – the wl lan is great for those on the move…y-msngr,gmail ..got it all

There is alaram function, in active select clock and then select options u can find more than one alarm in E51 ….

Wat about the sound quality in this mobile both loudspeaker and headset. Is this mobile come under symbian feature pack 2.
Can any one tell me the screen display isint short as e50 and hows the font?
Screen is not really small… its a excellent phone.. I don’t understand how people couldn’t see alarm and calculator.. Its in the sub folder of office.. In alarm you can set alarm as per your requirement and u can set different time of counties… Calculator is in subfolder of office..
I find only two things which need to be improved
1) The volume,mobile on/off switches are really hard
2) Loudspeaker could have be better
other then this two… its the best business phone for that price…value for money…

I have a Nokia E 51, I am facing a great problem. When I am using GPRS in my PC via Nokia E51, after sometime my mobile drop my bluetooth connection.same problem with the Data cable it also drop the connection of data cable from my pc after sometime automatically. Again I have to switch my phone and restart it. then I am able to use the GPRS again. I a have also gone to Nokia care many times but no solution for it. I am really very worried to buy Nokia e51 .Please help me If you have any solution. my Id is “gniit.deepak@gmail.com”.

YOU ALOS CAN CHECK ALARM FROM “OFFICE” FOLDER AND ALARM FROM “DATE & TIME” SETTINGS. ITS A STYLISH, GOOD MUSIC AND HAVE ALMOST CORPORATE FEATURES SUCH AS PDF, EXCEL, WORD ETC.
YOU CAN BUY IT FROM ANYWHERE IN INDIA JUST IN RS. 11500 /-, I BOUGHT IT FROM HOT SPOT MOBILE SHOP AND I GOT A FREE BLUETOOTH WIRELESS HEADSET.

its operation as follows;pls note below;
firstly switch on your wi-fi modem which should be activated and attchd with your laptop / pc,
after that
go to CONNECTIVITY in your phone device then open wlan folder, it will search all wi-fi network which is in 10 metres radius and when you you found some wi-fi you can start web browsing.

HI friends !!! I m planning to buy Nokia E51. I just want to know about the music quality and tha talktime of the phone.
This E51 is one of THe best nokia phone I’ve ever used. But… the only disappointing thing with it, is the headset sound quality.
i am planning to buy a E 51, selected the same as it is having 3G which in future can be used. but got to know that E series has the problem where the phones get hang. is this true?? secondly i wanted to know how about the reliability of the phone for the internet usage either on the phone itself and on the laptop.
please suggest.

Kindly tell me that , If I use the e51 than :-
1-Which company prepaid sim is better ,i.e. air , idiea ,reliance or bsnl in Madhya Pradesh
2-I heart that some company charge only Rs.10 per day for using the internet facility. If it is true then which are the companies that are giving such facilities.
3-What will be the average bill of using the internet facility as well as the mobile facility in Madhya Pradesh.
4-Which one is better , data card or e51?
5-Post paid connection is better or prepaid connection is better ?
6-Speed of data card is good or e51 speed is good ?

1- I guess idea and airtel give the Rs.10 per day usage facility..
2-The bill is based on your usage..
3-I guess the data card id better…but if u want a phone along with gud internet speed, then u go for the e51
4-prepaid rokx….postpaid is pretty hectic….paying the bills is hard…so u better opt for prepaid..
5-data card speed is more, but a phone along with good internet speed=nokia e51….

Awsome phone will the first problem cropped in..
The No. 1 key stopped working..
Nokia Care rejected it claiming liquid damage (even when there was none).
Repaired it and now within a months time, now the Keypad lights wont turn on and bluetooth stopped functioning..
I hear the keypad failure problem is a very common problem with E51s.. have atleast 2 others facing this problem with their E51s..
Do u have the large font for menus and contacts for aged people.

This phone is stylish and feature rich. I was very much impressed with this phone and I used it for 1 year. The problem with this phone is its volume keys and power key. Those are very dlicate and made of some cheap rubber material which will soon tear if you use it extensively.
Unfortunately, my phone went dead after 1 year and there is no place where I can get it repaired. The issue with these phones are that, as long as they work everything is gud, but once some thing happens, then better go for new phone rather than trying to waste ur time at Nokia care.
