Uber has finally rolled out the much needed feature that lets you book a ride in advance. The ride-hailing app will now allow you to schedule a ride 15 minutes to 30 days in advance.

Dubbed as Schedule a Ride, the feature lets users book UberGO or UberX in advance from the app. Uber said that this was the top requested service from riders around the world, especially from business travelers. You can pay through your credit cards, debit cards, prepaid wallets and even cash. Uber says that a user can cancel their ride at any time before the driver is on their way to pick them up.

How it works:

  • Select your preferred vehicle view (scheduled rides is currently available on uberGO and uberX only) and tap “Schedule a Ride.”
  • Set your pickup date, time, location, and destination.
  • Confirm the details of your upcoming trip and tap “Schedule uberX” or “Schedule uberGO”. You can cancel at anytime before your ride is on the way.
  • Uber will send you reminders both 24 hours and 30 minutes in advance of your pickup. You’ll be notified after your ride is on the way, as well as whether dynamic pricing applies.

Amit Jain, President, Uber India said in a statement,

Uber’s objective to offer accessible and reliable rides goes a notch further with the introduction of ‘Schedule a Ride’ feature. Riders can use this feature to book a ride from 15 mins to 30 days in advance. For our driver-partners, it minimises idle time and for riders it is an additional comfort of knowing your Uber will be there when it’s time to head out.

Last year in December, Uber rolled out Ride Request Button that allows developers to add in their apps. In August Uber rolled out a mobile website dubbed as Dial on Uber that lets you book a ride without the need to download the app in your smartphone.
