Google Drive gets smarter with support for natural language search

Google has updated Drive with Natural Language Processing (NLP) in a bid to enhance search. The new features for Drive on web makes it easier and faster to find files.

With the addition NPL, users can now type in simple phrases to find their files. For example, you can search, “find my budget spreadsheet from last December.” The results, as you would expect, will be all spreadsheets from the month of December.

Josh Smith, Product Manager said in blog post,

Drive will understand what you mean and give you the option to click for those specific search results. Drive NLP will get better with each query.

In addition to being smart, Google Drive will now help you spell right as it supports auto-correct. Next up, the update adds the ability for users to split documents into multiple columns. Finally there is inclusion of an auto-save feature that creates a copy whenever importing and converting non-Google formats.

Google says all these new features are available worldwide and will roll out gradually as of today.
