YouTube for iPad gets Split View and Slide Over support

Google is bringing some important updates to YouTube app for iOS. It is adding Slide Over and Split View multi tasking feature to the YouTube app for iPad.

The Split View feature will allow users to run two apps side by side while Slide Over feature lets you jump into other apps temporarily and do multi tasking. Both these feature were included  at the time of iOS 9 release. Slide Over feature will work on the original iPad Air and iPad mini 2 while the Split View only works on the iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4, and both iPad Pro models. However, YouTube is not getting the Picture-in-Picture functionality that lets you view videos in a smaller separate window while using a second app.

In addition, the app is moving home tabs into navigation bar for iPad in landscape mode. It is also fixing the bug that prevented URLs in video descriptions from opening. Apple recently launched the smaller 9.7 inch iPad Pro that focuses on multi-tasking. The latest update bumps the YouTube app to version 11.10.
