Google Maps for iOS gets offline navigation, gas prices and more

Google has updated Maps for iOS with a bunch of new features. The latest update that bumps the app to version 4.13 includes offline navigation, up-to-date gas prices and more. It requires users to be running iOS 7.0 or later.

Google Maps iOS

First up, Google Maps for iOS is getting offline navigation feature that allows users to select a portion of the map and save it locally onto your iPhone or iPad. After saving that section of the map you search for destinations even without a data connection and even get turn-by-turn navigation, business hours, and contact details. Prior to this update, users were only able to view a map of the area when offline. The offline navigation feature is already available for Google Maps on Android since last month.

In addition to offline navigation, Google Maps will now offer up-to-date gas prices on all of the closest gas stations when you search Maps for gas prices. Finally, the popular business hour feature provides information about restaurants and retail stores during their busiest hours and  brings the ability check popular visiting hours for local stores and outlets.
