Google Calendar for Google Apps automatically adds events like flight, hotel bookings and more

Google has rolled out an update that further improves integration between Google Apps and Google Calendar. The latest feature will allow Google Calendar to automatically add events like flights and hotel or restaurant reservations.

Google Calendar will pick up these events and their information from your Gmail by scanning your emails. When you receive an email in Gmail with flight, hotel, restaurant, or ticketed event information, a Google Calendar event will be automatically added to Google Calendar with the important data like flight numbers, hotel check-in times and so on. This will save users time from manually adding events to their calendars. Moreover, Google Calendar will update those events if plans change and a new email is received regarding the same.

The latest update for Google Calendar is available across all Google Apps with the exception of Google Apps for Government Domains. This feature was already available for Gmail users ever since the app got updated with the new material design. Google says that this feature will be enabled by default on desktop and iOS and Android apps for all Google Apps customers. However, it will not be available for Google Apps for Government domains. Google Calendar users can also delete any unwanted event, adjust visibility settings, or disable the feature altogether. The latest feature will roll out to Google Apps customers in coming weeks.
