Leaderboards is a new game that is inspired from Foursquare’s previous feature that made it popular. Today’s update, brings back more general leaderboards that rank users based on how many “coins” they have earned from all of their recent check-ins. Users will get bonus coins for streaks, mayorships, or any out-of-the-ordinary check-ins. These leaderboards reset every week.

In addition to leaderboards, the update revamps “Here Now” feature for seeing other users who are also checked in at the same place as you. Swarm has been receiving constant updates from Foursquare in order to increase user engagement. In March, the app added the ability to send messages to your nearby friends while in April it got stickers to accompany your check-in photos. The app also received check-in badges and the popular mayorship features recently.
