Apple looking forward to appoint a government affairs officer for India


Apple is planning to appoint a government affairs officer for Indian operations, as per a latest report from the Economic Times. The main aim of the move is to get a member on board that will play an important role in liaising with the government.

The government affairs officer will look into key issues with policy makers and within trade associations and will also get involved in developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders. Apple has posted a job requirement on LinkedIn that says the role involves supporting government and institutional engagement in India, representing Apple on key policy issues along with having an understanding of the regulatory and policy environment and its impact on Apple.

Earlier today, Apple revealed that India has reported 93% of growth sales in iPhone sales in Q3. The company has been focusing more on India which is a potential market for smartphones. The company was involved in aggressive marketing in the country with print and television advertisements along with an array of EMI, cash back and buyback schemes. A recent report from Reuters stated that Foxconn Technology is in discussions with the Indian government officials to set up its first manufacturing plant in India.
