We hope that you have read our recent article regarding the importance of phone hygiene. Well it seems that Blackberry agrees with us too as they are said to be preparing to release a smartphone that is ‘bacteria-free’ and is aimed for use in hospitals.

According to BloombergBusiness, Blackberry CEO John Chen said that they are bidding to become the secure mobile choice for the health care industry with this product. It would give health care workers one less thing to worry about cleaning.

However Chen also stated that they aren’t developing the phone just yet but instead will be conducting a pilot program with the help of doctors and nurses to know more about its feasibility and how to approach it. Bacteria spreading between patients is a major concern and since phones are known to be quite unhygienic, this will definitely help the cause.

Currently medical professionals are supposed to wipe their phones with an alcohol based solution before entering as well as exiting a patients room. However, hospitals aren’t sure how effective alcohol wipes are and many medical professionals do ignore this aspect or forget about it from time to time. This would make their job a lot easier if put into effect.
