Sony released a companion app for its yet unannounced SmartBand 2 SWR12 on the Play Store, but quickly removed it. Dubbed simply as SmartBand 2, the app reveals that the upcoming fitness tracker gets a heart rate monitor.
As per the screenshots of the app, it looks like the Smartband will have the heart rate monitor under the band which will count your pulse through out the day. The band will also come with a smart wake up function that will likely vibrate after the user completes a sleep cycle. SmartBand 2 is also able to track steps and sleep, alert wearers of incoming messages on their phone, text message, social media update. While the app says it is optimized for the Xperia line of devices, users report that they have been able to install it on any Android device. Sony launched the original SmartBand SWR10 back in May 2014.
