HTC EVO 4G Price and Release Date

on March 24, 2010 – 8:08 pm34 Comments

When HTC and Sprint announced the EVO 4G aka Supersonic yesterday , there was no word on pricing or a specific release date .

The EVO 4G is one amazing device ,  it’s a HD2 on steroids.  It’s not just the hardware that looks great but the Android 2.1 OS and the HTC Sense UI make it feel special. And guess what ? It’s  the world’s first 4G / WiMAX phone.

4G is cool but what about coverage ? We know a lot of users were craving for a killer phone on Sprint and the EVO 4G more than matches their expectations.  But does the HTC , Sprint duo think that users will be willing to pay anything for this phone ?

4G is cool but what about coverage ?

Sprint currently offers 4G service in 27 markets: Georgia – Atlanta, Milledgeville; Hawaii – Honolulu, Maui; Idaho – Boise; Illinois – Chicago; Maryland – Baltimore; Nevada – Las Vegas; North Carolina – Charlotte, Greensboro, (along with High Point and Winston-Salem), Raleigh (along with Cary, Chapel Hill and Durham); Oregon – Portland, Salem; Pennsylvania – Philadelphia; Texas – Abilene, Amarillo, Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Killeen/Temple, Lubbock, Midland/Odessa, San Antonio, Waco, Wichita Falls; Washington – Bellingham, Seattle. Sprint is expected to launch 4G in Boston, Denver, Houston, Kansas City, Minneapolis, New York City, San Francisco and Washington, D.C this year.

Sprint has teamed up with Clearwire for building the WiMAX network which is the backbone for it’s 4G services.

Now the only information available from Sprint and HTC regarding the EVO 4G launch date is given below

World’s First 3G/4G Android Phone, HTC EVO 4G, Coming this Summer Exclusively from Sprint.Customers will be able to purchase HTC EVO 4G through all Sprint channels and through national retail partners, RadioShack, Best Buy and Walmart, this summer. Pricing will be announced at a later date. Pre-registration begins today at www.sprint.com/evo.

So is Sprint going to fix the price depending on the number of Pre-orders for the phone ?

And will you ever buy a phone / service without actually trying one ?  If you said yes then get ready to spend a truck load of cash for this one !

    hahaha .. amazing specs isn’t it ?

  • bir

Tell me the price of HTC 4G

  • Satya

LOL…Don’t give your Kidney; instead give them your brain which will bear at least one along with additional headphone.

Here we got the another unutilized brained man.

  • squiddgy

I talked to a Sprint employee friend of mine and he thinks probably around 3 hundy. sounds reasonable to me. I just had my GPS stolen from my truck and now I dont have to replace it. saving $ to put towards this phone. bring it on!

If this phone is $300.00, that will be OK. As long as Sprint doesn’t jack up the plan prices. Currently Sprint is $50.00 cheaper per month for my 2 line family plan than the V people. Keep the plan stable, and I’ll drop 3 bills on the phone in a heartbeat. Hesse will gain a big market share if he does.

    lol
    4G gonna launch.
and india still waiting for 3G from their favourite operators.

How does sprint come out with a 4g phone but not enought 4g coverage thats crazy..300 lol tmobile’s phone came out for 199.00.This phone should also be multitasking talk and surf in other to beat the Iphone..I will not give a kidney or a brain!! Clearwireless sprint backbone for 4g is not available every where so sprint price for this phone can’t be so much not enough coverage for this phone!!;(

Man, I just bought a Samsung Moment, but I’m stoked for this phone hands down! Either way, I’m getting this phone and I wouldn’t mind paying $250.00-$300.00 for it. Just keep my plan where it’s at and I’m set. Oh yeah….TAKE THAT iPhone!!!

  • cbrown34

The phone is great i have a family plan with 5 lines so i would need atleast 4 phones and at 300.00 a phone i think it would be cheape to switch ot tmoble and get 4 hd2s

That’s easy. The same way the iPhone came out with the iPhone 3G for $300+ with lackluster 3G coverage and years later are still serving up lackluster coverage. I used to live in a descent sized Metro area had 3G upstairs in my home but not downstairs or if I drive up the street I’m in Edge land no more 3G coverage. I’ll never buy another iPhone until Apple grows some balls and goes with a better carrier and AT&T are exactly what puts off alot of people from buying an iPhone on top of the expensive plans for that lack of service. It’s easy to say you have alot of 3G coverage but if I can’t even use that coverage and it fluctuates when I’m only at a different altitude or when I’m walking down the street then what’s the point? This phone has alot of great specs not to mention you won’t break the bank getting reliable coverage even if it is only 3G (although it’s not a concern for me because I live in 4G coverage). I’m not even big on HTC but consider iPhone killed and buried because something tells me HTC and Android are going to keep pushing out better and better phones into the market.
