Opera Mini for iPhone submitted to Apple App Store for Approval , Video Inside

We told you that Opera was going to showcase Opera Mini 5 for iPhone during CTIA 2010. Now the Norwegian company has just submitted the App to the Apple App Store for Approval. It has also shared a fresh video of the opera mini app in action on a iPhone. They have also launched a contest where you can win an iPhone by guessing when Apple will approve the app.

Opera Mini submitted to Apple’s App Store

Oslo, Norway – March 23, 2010 – Opera Mini for iPhone was officially submitted to the Apple iPhone App store today. A select few first saw it at Mobile World Congress 2010 in February. Now, the “fast like a rocket” browser is taking its first big step towards giving users a new way to browse on the iPhone.

Early reviews of Opera Mini for iPhone praised the sheer browsing speed, powering through Web pages up to six times faster than Safari. Due to server-side rendering, Opera Mini compresses data by up to 90 percent before sending it to the phone, resulting in rapid page loading and more Web per MB for the end user. Those familiar with iPhone roaming charges will relish Opera Mini’s ability to deliver more for less, giving users the Web they want quickly, without, the high costs.

    Let’s assess the situation. Apple and Google were more like chaddi-buddies a while back, until Apple’s retarded app store rejections laid the smackdown on Google Voice’s giant ass. Now you tell me, what are the odds of a small company by the name Opera to replace iPhone’s primary tool i.e. Mobile Safari. I bet my 100 bucks on Opera getting rejected and probably making an appearance in Cydia forcing a LOT of iPhone/iPod Touch owners to Jailbreak. Agree?

      Hey Chetan, thanks for the comment. But Opera is claiming that Opera Mini is not safari replacement :D Will have to wait and watch
