Android Wear 5.1.1 lets you control music on your smartphone from your smartwatch

Smartwatches are meant to make life easier and that also means being able to control some functions of your smartphone from your smartwatch. That is exactly what the update to Android Wear 5.1.1 does as it now allows you to control the music on your smartphone directly from your smartwatch.

The update will allow your smartwatch to connect to your smartphone and control Google Play Music. While you cannot scroll through your entire music collections, you still can access your recent music from it.

You can access Listen Now, Recent Playlists and the Radio function. The Listen Now feature lets you browse between albums, playlists and radio stations that you’ve heard recently. Recent playlists lets you shuffle between songs and albums that you liked recently (both free as well as purchased content). Radio brings up the Google Play Music radio stations and you can seek between them from your smartwatch.

It comes in hand if you are interrupted in between your listening session and want to resume afterwards. Considering that the LG Urbane has Android Wear 5.1.1 and then the Zenwatch started receiving the update yesterday, we can expect other smartwatches to follow up with the updates soon enough.
