Microsoft announces a Marketplace for Windows Phone 7 Series

At MIX 2010 which is a MS developer event , Microsoft showed showcased its shiny new Windows Phone Marketplace for Windows Phone 7 Series phones.

Some of the features of the Marketplace are

  • Panoramic design
  • Supports one-time credit card purchases, mobile operator billing and advertising-funded applications.
  • Customers can try applications before buying them
  • Developers can cross-promote their applications through deep linking.

    The big feature of Microsoft’s news app marketplace is that it is a closed platform. Microsoft will vet all applications, and decide which it will allow or disallow. You can no longer ‘side-load’ an application yourself onto a Windows Phone.
