Rumour : iPhone 3GS India Launch on Monday March 15 with 4 Operators

We have some interesting information from one of our sources. Apple is finally planning to launch the iPhone 3GS in India on coming monday March 15.

Apple is planning to accept pre-orders or bookings for a short duration before actual sales start.

It’s going to be offered on 4 Operators – Airtel, Vodafone , Reliance and Aircel and the phone will be locked to the operator for 1 or 2 years after which you can unlock the phone officially ! Reliance and Aircel might be the new operators offering iPhones. Airtel and Vodafone already offer the iPhone 3G.What’s surprising is none of these operator’s offer 3G services. BSNL / MTNL are missing from that list.  But this list is not official so we can’t comment.

Also our source tells us that the iPad will hit India in June. And finally India is getting a lot of global attention ( HTC Smart , Nexus One Mini , Moto android phones).But when the whole world is waiting for the iPhone 4G, it’s so painful to anticipate a 3GS India Launch.

We will update you about the iPhone 3GS India launch once we have more info !

UPDATE : Many iStores have confirmed that the 3GS is indeed launching this month.  New launch date is March 24th . Pricing information for 3GS 16GB version is around 33k approx and price of the 3GS 32 GB is 42K approx . The 3G model is expected to get a price drop. And it’s going to be Airtel and Vodafone only and it will launch first on Airtel (and even after all this it will be locked to the Operator)

    No confirmatory news from Airtel Outlet,

    No evidence of any trace of 3GS in any Aircel or Reliance Mobile websites!

    Launch may be April 1st….hee..he…he…he…!

    Not again man!!! Fed up with these rumors. Anyways, if at all the prices are in a similar slab to that of iphone 3g like 30k and 36k then it would be a good deal else its better to get a factory unlocked one from local markets :D

    iPAD sales on day one that is friday 12 march is mind boggling.
    25000 iPad sold per hour.
    At the end of 6 hours 90000 iPad sold out.

    The folks who hang out at Investor Village’s AAPL Sanity Board are too impatient to wait for Apple (AAPL) to announce sales figures; they much prefer to work them out on their own — in real time.

    Entering the order numbers associated with their own purchases on a Google spreadsheet, they think they’ve cracked the code. As of 11:05 a.m. ET — two and a half hours after Apple’s online store began taking pre-orders — the group had received 15 confirmations with order numbers as high as 74,000 (the numbers don’t necessarily start at zero and include non-iPad purchases).

    “51,000 orders in two hours,” announced Victor Castroll shortly after noon. He’s an analyst with Valcent Financial Group and an AAPL Sanity member who, with the blogger-analyst who calls himself deagol, has been monitoring the spreadsheet.

    His estimate — which is adjusted for the roughly 15,000 online orders that come in a typical day — jibes with a 20,000-per-hour figure published earlier by Silicon Alley Insider. That number was based on two sales made within 30 minutes that were 10,000 order numbers apart. Rumors from the supply chain suggest that Apple may have as few as 300,000 units available for sale on April 3.

    Which iPads are people buying?

    The 48 orders (for 54 iPads) reported to AAPL Sanity by Friday afternoon break down as follows:

    Wi-Fi-only: 37 units (69%)
    Wi-Fi + 3G: 17 (31%)
    16 GB: 21 (40%)
    32 GB: 15 (28%)
    64 GB: 18 (33%)
    Six of the 48 people who reported their purchases ordered two iPads; one AAPL Sanity member said she was planning to buy nine.

Castroll asks that you include your order number with the last three digits Xed out, the number of iPads you ordered, the order time, time zone, memory capacity and whether your iPad is Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi + 3G.

    Apple please launch it this time . would be more than happy if its also offered unlock for a 2k or little more . hoping its not another rumour but it still is fr the time being .

    As someone above said, Too late only a fool would buy 3GS now with new iphone coming in less than 5 months or so. Besides why should one trust a company which doesn’t care about customer sentiments.

    hello there people…iPhone 3GS will be launched appx 30K and iPhone 3G will be available for 25k. The iPhone which is going to be launched this year will not be launched in India.

    Yes,it is confirmed iPhone 3GS is getting launched on 24th March,

    Price is 33,0000 for 16GB and 42,000 for 32GB,

    iStore says it will have only ‘Airtel’ Locked iphone 3gs.

    You can even check iStore website.

    I pity the people still waiting to get their hands on the 3gs, paying 32k for a phone that will be outdated in 3 months max is a joke(going by the fact that apple will launch the 4th gen iphone in july)

    Here is some sane advice for anybody who plans to buy the 3gs(if and when it is launched) …do not buy it!!
    Opt for the 3g instead (but only if the price for that is indeed reduced and the carriers still offer it)
    The 3gs does not offer anything dramatically new or different over the 3g.

    or you could always wait for the next gen iphone to be launched sometime next year in India 10-11 months after it’s actual release in the US!! :P

    i have been waiting for 3gs for ages and now you as an expert say htc desire??? why is your inclination towards HTC desire?? I thought 3gs is better than any phone around barring 3 mp camera which i m ok with.

    Its a stupid idea to waste 42k in iPhone 3GS.

    If you really need that Apple Experience, then the best way is to get an iPod Touch .

    Im using an iPod Touch and a Blackberry Storm 9530. Its way too better and a status symbol as well.

    Full Qwerty keyboard phones are useless. Like BB, Nokia E63, etc. It has those little cheap plastic buttons and are always there whether u need them or not…..They look Awful… Your choice is good Soam. It makes sense to keep a iPod Touch…but y a BB? Just for BBM?…To save 1000rs?….BB internet plans start form 499 and 299 depending on operator but BBM is useless….I would rather keep a Nexus One (which im using currently). It has a fantastic display and excellent camera…….I have an iPhone, iPhone 3G, And the 3GS which i got for 35k…(greymarket). I have an iPod Touch too and feel if u have a second Phone and using iPhone only for games and MultiMedia it makes sense to use iPod Touch…..thts what i do….i have the nexus and ipod touch
