Rumour : iPhone 3GS India Launch on Monday March 15 with 4 Operators

We have some interesting information from one of our sources. Apple is finally planning to launch the iPhone 3GS in India on coming monday March 15.

Apple is planning to accept pre-orders or bookings for a short duration before actual sales start.

It’s going to be offered on 4 Operators – Airtel, Vodafone , Reliance and Aircel and the phone will be locked to the operator for 1 or 2 years after which you can unlock the phone officially ! Reliance and Aircel might be the new operators offering iPhones. Airtel and Vodafone already offer the iPhone 3G.What’s surprising is none of these operator’s offer 3G services. BSNL / MTNL are missing from that list.  But this list is not official so we can’t comment.

Also our source tells us that the iPad will hit India in June. And finally India is getting a lot of global attention ( HTC Smart , Nexus One Mini , Moto android phones).But when the whole world is waiting for the iPhone 4G, it’s so painful to anticipate a 3GS India Launch.

We will update you about the iPhone 3GS India launch once we have more info !

UPDATE : Many iStores have confirmed that the 3GS is indeed launching this month.  New launch date is March 24th . Pricing information for 3GS 16GB version is around 33k approx and price of the 3GS 32 GB is 42K approx . The 3G model is expected to get a price drop. And it’s going to be Airtel and Vodafone only and it will launch first on Airtel (and even after all this it will be locked to the Operator)

    From wat i see the 3gs is double the cost of 3g.. is it worth to go for the 3gs saying double amount? Anyone has any advice?

    Its a stupid idea to waste 42k in iPhone 3GS.

    If you really need that Apple Experience, then the best way is to get an iPod Touch .

    Im using an iPod Touch and a Blackberry Storm 9530. Its way too better and a status symbol as well.

      Full Qwerty keyboard phones are useless. Like BB, Nokia E63, etc. It has those little cheap plastic buttons and are always there whether u need them or not…..They look Awful… Your choice is good Soam. It makes sense to keep a iPod Touch…but y a BB? Just for BBM?…To save 1000rs?….BB internet plans start form 499 and 299 depending on operator but BBM is useless….I would rather keep a Nexus One (which im using currently). It has a fantastic display and excellent camera…….I have an iPhone, iPhone 3G, And the 3GS which i got for 35k…(greymarket). I have an iPod Touch too and feel if u have a second Phone and using iPhone only for games and MultiMedia it makes sense to use iPod Touch…..thts what i do….i have the nexus and ipod touch
