Microsoft acquires Sunrise calendar app for $100M: Report


Microsoft has scooped up mobile calendar app maker Sunrise, according to a report from TechCrunch. The latest deal is said to be worth more than $100M.

Sunrise integrates with Google Calendar, iCloud, and Microsoft Exchange as well as apps like Evernote, Foursquare, LinkedIn and Github to fill out events with more information than other calendar apps. The app source your tasks and events from a variety of providers, including Gmail, Microsoft Exchange, iCloud as well as social media like Facebook, LinkedIn and Foursquare. Present on iOS, Mac, Android and Chrome, the app also has built-in support for reminders that sync along with the calendars.

Microsoft acquired email app Acompli for more than $200 million in December. Last month, the company also launched new Outlook apps for iOS and Android that is powered by Acompli’s technology. The report added that Microsoft is keeping the app alive and it might use its technology in future products.
