Samsung announced the Galaxy Mega 2, its latest Galaxy Mega series smartphone in September. The 6-inch phablet then went on sale in India last month for Rs 20,900. We have already seen the unboxing,benchmarks and photo gallery of the phone. Now, lets compare the device with last year’s Sony Xperia Z Ultra that has already been reviewed.
Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 has a 6-inch ( 1280 x 720 pixels) HD display while the Xperia Z Ultra sports a 6.4 inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Triluminos Display. The former is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and the latter is powered by 2.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800. The Mega 2 has 1.5 GB RAM, 8/16GB Internal Memory that can be expandable up to 64GB with micro SD while the Z Ultra has a 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory expandable upto 64GB. Mega 2 has a 5MP front facing camera and Z Ultra has a 2MP front facing camera with 1080p video recording.
Mega 2 has a the trademark physical home button and two capacitive buttons on either sides while the Z Ultra has on screen touch buttons.
At the back the Mega 2 has 8MP auto-focus rear camera with LED Flash and the Z Ultra also has 8MP camera with Exmos RS sensor, HDR photos & videos, 1080p video recording.
The Mega 2 has a back cover with leather-like finish and the loudspeaker grill is seen at the lower end of the phone. While the Z Ultra has a glass like finish at the back.
The Mega 2 has a 3.5mm audio jack at the top while the Z Ultra has nothing on the top.
The micro USB port on Mega 2 is placed at the bottom while the Z Ultra has nothing at the bottom.
Mega 2 only has a power button on the right side while the Z Ultra has 3.5mm audio jack, microSD card and micro SIM card slots are hidden under a flap over on the right side of the handset. Also present is the power button and volume rockers.
The volume rockers are present on the left of the Mega 2 while the Ultra has magnetic dock connector on the left.
The back cover on Mega 2 is removable while the one on Z Ultra is not. Mega 2 has a 2800mAh while Z Ultra has 3050mAh battery. The Mega 2 comes in Brown, Black and White colors while Sony Xperia Z Ultra comes in Black, White and Purple colors.
