Sony announced its flagship phone Xperia Z3 last month along with the Xperia Z3 Compact. The former was launched in India for Rs 51,990 while the latter for Rs 44,990. We have already seen hands on and review of the Xperia Z3 and photo gallery of the Xperia Z3 Compact. We have compared the Xperia Z3 with the Xperia Z2 and the LG G3. Now let us compare the Z3 with the Z3 Compact.
The Xperia Z3 sports a 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Triluminos Display with Live Colour LED powered by X-Reality engine, 600 cd brightness. While the Xperia Z3 Compact has a 4.6-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) Triluminos Display with X-Reality for Mobiles. Both the devices are powered by 2.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor (MSM8974AC) with Adreno 330 GPU.
Both the devices have a 2.2MP front-facing camera with 1080p video recording. They also come with IP65/68 rating for dust and water resistance, so these can stay up to 30 minutes in 1.5 meters of water.
These have three on screen buttons for home menu and back. Both the phones run on latest Android KitKat 4.4.4. Z3 boasts of a 3GB RAM while the Z3 Compact comes with a 2GB RAM. While internal memory on both the phones is 16GB that can be expanded upto 128GB via micro SD card slot.
At the back the both the Z3 and Z3 compact sport a 20.7MP Primary Camera with Exmos RS sensor, HDR photos & videos, 4K video recording.
The 3.5 mm audio jack is present at the top of both the devices along with a secondary microphone.
Z3 is 7.3mm thick and weighs 152 grams while Z3 compact measures 8.6 mm thick and weighs 129 grams. The Z3 does not have anything at the bottom while the Z3 Compact has a lanyard hole and a primary microphone.
On the right side both the devices has the trademark aluminium power key, volume rocker buttons and a dedicated camera shutter button. The Z3 also has the micro SD card slot and a nano SIM slot present on the right side. These are present under the cover. Battery on the Z3 is 3100 mAh while that on the Z3 Compact is 2600mAh and they both come with Stamina mode.
On the other side both these have a microUSB port and a charging dock connector. In addition, the Z3 compact has a micro SD card slot and a nano SIM slot under the cover. The Xperia Z3 also has a lanyard hole on the left side. The Sony Xperia Z3 is available in black, white, green and copper colors while the Z3 Compact comes in white, black, orange and green.
