Amazon revamps Goodreads app for iOS with new design and navigation


Amazon has given its Goodreads app for iOS a makeover. The app has been revamped with a new design and navigation. This is the first major update for Goodreads since its was bought by Amazon in March last year.

The popular social network for book lovers has been updated to run efficiently for the latest iOS 8 experience. Goodreads 3.0 features a streamlined navigation and chucks the outdated grid-based home menu and offers a revamped bottom tab menu. It now show all the friends updates into a redesigned feed where users can like and comment on the books they are reading.

In addition, the app gets a My Books” section along with a search option to find books. It also features a barcode scanner to add books to your “To Read” shelf. Finally, a “More” tab in the app shows you the remaining sections, like recommendations, challenges, groups, events and more.

Here is the official changelog for Goodreads 3.0:

  • Friend Updates: Beautifully re-designed feed where you can see your friends’ updates and like or comment on what they’re reading.
  • Streamlined Navigation: Access all of your favorite features more easily than ever.
  • Reading Progress: Now it’s simple to track what page you’re on and share thoughts on what you’re currently reading.
  • Improved Shelving: Shelve books as Read and Want to Read, and even create new shelves with custom names
