You might have heard about Internet.org project, which is a global cooperation between technology leaders, non-profits, local communities and experts who are dedicated to making internet access available to the two thirds of the world, not yet connected.

The current partners for the global mission include Qualcomm, Facebook, Samsung, Ericsson, Opera, MediaTek and Nokia.

The vision is led by three mail goals –
• Making Internet access more affordable
• Building more efficient technologies
• Helping businesses to drive access

Qualcomm and Facebook are working actively on expanding their mission with tests in various regions. The organization is looking at India as their next destination to help the major part of the country to be connected.

Here’s what Dr. Avneesh Agrawal, President, Qualcomm India and South Asia had to say about their global initiative – “As a founding member of Internet.org, we are proud to collaborate with Facebook towards this powerful mission of making affordable internet access available. As a world leader in 3G, 4G and next-generation wireless technologies, Qualcomm is uniquely positioned to offer a comprehensive technology portfolio and has the special know-how to tie together the hardware, software, services and collaborations needed to deliver on the future of mobile and the Internet.org initiative,”

We really appreciate the vision of Internet.org and we hope many other technology giants can join hands in order to connect as many people as possible from across the globe.
