Dropbox for Android updated with previews, redesigned search and more


Dropbox has put more power in its Android app with several updates. For starters, search has been completely redesigned and now tracks recent queries and offers typeahead suggestions.

The version 2.4.3 enables users to search in specific folders or in your entire Dropbox, the app keeps track of your recent searches, it makes “typeahead” suggestions as you type in your searches and also highlights the names of matching files or folders as you type your search.

The update adds in-app previews for Microsoft Word and PowerPoint documents, as well as standard PDFs. This lets users preview a file before downloading it. In addition users will be able to zoom, view, and scroll through any PDF, Word document, or PowerPoint. Dropbox also says that this update brings the ability to change shared folders to “view-only” status. Lastly, Dropbox has  included performance improvements, as well as bug fixes in the update.
