Google.com is Now Location Aware on the iPhone and Android Devices

Starting today, Google.com is location aware on the iPhone and Android Devices. This move from Google makes discovering interesting places around you very easy.

Lets just suppose you are a stranger to a place and in search of a good restaurant or Coffee Shop or ATM and you have an iPhone running on OS 3.0 or later or an Android Device running on 2.0.1 or later, all you have to do is fire up your browser and head over to Google.com.

Once the page gets loaded, you can now see a “Near Me Now” link just below the Google Search Box. On tapping that, you will get a list of all the restaurants, Coffee Shops or ATM’s around you along with its distance. Cool Stuff, Isn’t it?

You can also further proceed and check out the reviews and ratings of the restaurant or coffee shop and then decide whether it is worth visiting or not.

Note: You must first enable the location in order for “Near me now” to appear, and “Explore right here” works only if the phone provides location accuracy within approximately a city block.
