one thing al u guys shoulld knw is that all service providers list their speeds in kilo bits or mega bits per second. but all devices display the speed in kilo bytes or mega bytes per second. and as everyone knows that 1byte=8bits , so whatever speed the provider tells u, u should divide it by 8 to know the real speed. eg. if some one tels u 512kbps , it actually is 64kBps. notice that the bigger b here symbolises bytes and the smaller one bits.

I used internet on Samsung corby as per the reliance offer of free usage for first two months. But there are so many bluffing facts hidden in this offer by the services providers. I've been succked off for two thousand ruppees due to this cheating offers. Please dont rely on such offers. By any means they will pick your pocket.

Yes you sud go for it. As speed and RUIM change was having confusion at many outlets. but now as everyone is aware of this you won't face any problem. And the best thing this Corby price had dipped and you can get it by paying as low as 7500 in mumbai.

Hi, I have purchased Corby speed last week, I got it for 8300@ Hyderabad. for the RUIM sim 100/- I have activated sim with tata indicom.
Until there that was good, For the internet part it is sucking... it is not as promised as it was. NO 2.4 MB's internet speed, i have installed an .Jar to see what exact speed am i getting, it is 40 to 50 Kb, for the other it is fine. It also lacks WIFI feature. It is not truly worth of 8000 to 9000 phone.

Hey
I am using the tata photon+ usb data card but it never gives me speeds of 3.1mbps as advertised.
on inquiring about the speed they said that on CDMA networks u can get an average speed of 144kbps. So guys if you are thinking of browsing at 2.4mbps...... Forget it.

Hi All,
I have been using corby for quite some time and now i feel that its a real waste of money. Here is why
1) Though reliance/Tata may offer internet 15GB free for two months but after these two months of free ride, the plans are pretty expensive ..some 1800 Rs
2) even if #1 doesnt matter to you,if you try attempting to access web,the onboard touch screen keyboard sucks. On top of that,if you happened to configure it to access office mails, your phone would hang and would not even let to make/receive the calls.
The phone gets busy while downloading mails.
3) Those who have questions to configure mails on corby,go to settings-->Applications Settings-->Messages-->Email Setup Wizard. You need to key in exact settings as you would do on thunderbird/outlook.
4)Battery backup is pathetic.Finding a number from phonebook is also cumbersome.
5) With no wifi option ,this phone is not atall value for money.
6) if you are reliance customer, you would need to fight with dumb most CC and the yet another stupid set of ppl at their web support. When they finally migrate your phone to the free usage account, they would bill you like anything ,despite promising that the services are free for two months.I was billed 395 for VPN Usage and 153 for VPN rentals ,while i never opted for these. After sending a mail to reliance, these nuts agreed to reverse the amount.
No offense>just my thoughts.

@amit, for getting the high speed 3G, you need to ask for an OMH SIM card from your operator. The Samsung Corby Speed is an OMH handset and works seamlessly across OMH SIM cards from all five CDMA operators - Tata, Reliance, Virgin, MTS and BSNL

I purchased Samsung Corby Speed in Hyderabad for Rs 9200.
When i inserted my old sim in this handset,i wasnt able to access internet due to the error "Pls upgrade the RUIM Card".
This error is because this handset requires an OMH card instead of normal SIM card. The cell number needs to be transferred from your old sim card to the OMH card ,only then can a person access data services.I had to run after the dealer to arrange the OMH card .The dealer inturn had to get it from Samsung Support.I didnt have to pay anything for this OMH card.
The internet is really fast.I could even download my office mails. But,reliance CC or webworld or even corporatecentre.customercare@relianceada.com has no idea about the free 15GB plan !

Reliance person tells I have to pay 100 rupees to get new sim card which will support the data services. But neither tata nor reliance customer care know of any data service plans tagged with corby speed.
